Publisher's summary

From the gutter to the stars...dance is in my blood.

Once upon a time, it ran through their veins, too: Xeno, York, Zayn, and Dax. The Breakers and I were a crew until bad decisions and circumstance ripped us apart.

Now the Breakers are back. And they’ve brought trouble.

They’re not here at the Stardom Academy to dance. They’re here on a mission for Jeb, the leader of the Skins. He wants something. And me? I’m just a pawn in their game.

To make matters worse, my psychotic brother wants something too. I must befriend the Breakers and find out what they’re up to. If I refuse, my brother will hurt the one person I love more than life itself. I cannot allow that to happen.

Dance was always the cure to our pain; the foundations of our friendship and love. It brought us together once before. Can I go through the cycle of friendship, love, and heartache all over again? Will I survive the Breakers a second time? Will they survive me?

Lyrical is book two of Academy of Stardom, a gritty, contemporary reverse-harem romance. If you love dance, your men on the criminal side, hot alpha-holes, and the friends-to-enemies-to-lovers trope, this is for you. Contains mature themes and ends on a cliff-hanger.

Love this series!!

I this series and the main characters but the male narrator is not my favorite. He makes them sound like old men.

Male voice

I was immediately addicted to the first book and had to find out what was going to happen, without even sampling I bought the next book. When the male voice started his chapter I was confused. I thought they switched the narrator because he sounds so different. Maybe he had a cold? I don’t know, but I struggled through his listening to his chapters because it was such a difference from the first book.

Other than that, it’s wonderful.

Onto book 3

I'll just read it instead

the male narration was horrible. I immediately returned it but I love everything else and will read the digital or physical.

A steamy angsty RH full of dance

I absolutely love this series. I have the books. And this series was the first audiobook I listened to.
I enjoyed listening to Kylie Stewart! She takes Bea's words and breathes them to life, and finally gives us Pen's voice. She did an amazing job. I didn't quite like Joel Froomkin for the men. I don't like that Joel did al four of them. And they are so young and he made them sound so old. But overal it was a very good audio.

So good, but holy cliffhanger!

What a great second book to this dance series! I love (and loathe) the characters. Sometimes I get a little burned out after reading a second book in a series, but not with this one. I loved it just as much as the first!! And the cliffhanger!! I’m glad the rest of the series is out so I can move on right away.

Kylie Stewart continues to amaze me with her narration! She’s becoming a new favorite for me. Joel Froomkin’s voice is incredible. I’m not a fan of a Cockney accent and he really gets into the accent. However, he has a fantastic voice and I love all the energy he puts into the characters.

Can’t wait to start book 3!!

Off to Listen to Breakers ❤️

Pen and the Breakers continue their story in Lyrical. While at the Academy Pen and the guys go on a roller coaster of secrets, truths, and learning to work together again to trust each other. I really enjoy getting to see the world of dance through this story. While there are so many places this story can go based on the ending of this book I can not wait to see what comes next in Breakers. Kylie and Joel continue to do an amazing job bringing their voices and emotions to Bea's word's.

Might be my favorite of the series!

The tension in book 2 of the Academy of Stardom series is even more intense than book 1 and I loved every minute of it. I loved the reconciliations starting to happen, the walls came down and the Breakers and Pen could finally realize their feelings were still there and could talk things out. I had read these when they first came out and listening to them again to get up to speed for Encore was an amazing idea because I fell in love with these characters all over again.

I wanted to grab Zayn and hug him and never let him go. York made me want to smile and giggle, and I love how they came to a head and released their anger and hurt in the class/studio. I thought the dance scenes got even better in book 2. We feel all the emotions, not just anger and hurt. The song choices were brilliant and I could envision the dances in my head as I read it and could hear the song in my mind as well with it. This author does a fabulous job with giving enough descriptions without being overly detailed where it takes you out of the story. Perfect combo!

I wanted to shake Dax and Xeno in this one. I knew they were going to hold out the most but coooome on hahaha I was dying for it. My heartstrings were in shambles when Dax finally got his head on straight and Xeno makes us wait even more but the end of the book was fun for them haha. Now to the steam...oooooh boy. We were waiting for things to start happening and I was so happy and *fans self* excited when Pen goes with her heart and not her head haha. I won’t give things away but I am loving how the the steam amps up with each book.

The plot in this book grips you even more than book 1. We have some heart stopping moments with our Breakers and a couple different baddies. I won’t give anything away but if you have seen any of this author’s other series, she makes some spinoff duets after some of the characters introduced n this series and the previous series (Academy of Misfits). The side characters I think stole the show for a bit in this one too (I love me Grim and Beast!). Pen finally gets what is at stake/the world her Breakers and now herself is back in and what could happen with one wrong move/bad decision. I also really enjoyed the new places introduced in this book. We get more time at Tales and I loved Pen’s new role there! I loved Jewels and wish I could go to one because it sounds epic. And the nightclub for Clancy’s birthday was eye opening and fun (before it gets real with all the raw emotions). Ok I am rambling now but pretty much I loved every second of this book, might be my favorite of the series.

Narration was good, again the female narrator sometimes doesnt give the best male performances so I hope the audio company really thinks about duet narrations for all the books they do moving forward, it’s just better for most books (I will say some female narrators are amazing at both, but I think its like 5 of them that I have listened to that can do that). I will say the emotion in this one could be felt through my earphones, the story is getting more intense and the narrators did a good job upping their intensity to match. 4-4.5 stars for the narration but overall still easily 5/5 for the story <3

Favorite quote of the book: "Dancing with you is a gift, Pen. Loving you, an inevitability."

I ❤️this series

This series is among my favorite in the RH genre. The story line is unique and the writing is amazing. The characters are easy to connect to and even though there are some sexy times, it doesn’t consume the book and feel over done. The narration is awesome, and the plot turns are entertaining. Highly recommend this series, as it’s different in storyline to other RH’s.
