About this listen

From best-selling authors William W. Johnstone and J. A. Johnstone comes the blazing saga of Duff MacCallister, heir to a legacy of courage.

Duff MacCallister fled the Scottish Highlands for a new world in Wyoming Territory. Betrothed to a good woman, Duff has the bad luck to be standing in the Chugwater Bank when a violent robbery explodes around him. With one man dead by Duff's gun, and another under arrest, a team of bandits swarms outside of town. As witnesses, Duff, a banker, and a beautiful barmaid are whisked into the town's hotel for safe-keeping as the outlaws threaten the defenseless town with a bloodbath if their fellow bandit isn't set free.

Except no MacCallister has ever run from trouble. With a scoped Creedmoor rifle he goes after the Taylor gang, one bad guy at a time... But Duff doesn't know that fate - and a little twist of frontier justice - will give the Taylor Gang one last chance for a shocking, treacherous act of revenge....

A Great Series

This whole series is good. At least the ones narraited by P. J. Ochlan. Well worth the time and a credit. Duff and Elmer keeps it exciting. I listened to the whole book in one day. If my review was helpful will you please click helpful. Thank you

Johnstone is getting lazy.

Lawmen are not idiots. Yet
In the first Duff McAllister story, the sheriff approaches a band of known murderous outlaws without a shotgun or even drawing his gun. In this story, the posse holster their guns when arriving upon the location of the outlaw’s horse which they’ve just shot. Young man become excited and aggressive when achieving partial success in dangerous situations. They do not holster their guns and passively prepare to go home! There are many real life ways in which real law in the west died. Morgan Earp and Wild Bill Hickok or two notable examples. Johnstone should use similar life examples. Depending on the stupidity of lawmen is a poor crutch. It’s frustrating. It makes his otherwise excellent character development of lesser value. It’s like good chocolate icing on a burnt cake.
