About this listen
Sir Samuel White Baker (1821-1893) was a British engineer, explorer, officer, naturalist, big-game hunter, and writer. Man-Eating Tigers of India originally appeared in his 1891 book on big-game hunting titled Wild Beasts and Their Ways. Focusing on the author’s tiger-hunting exploits, the work includes a detailed description of the tiger’s habits and instructions on how to organize and conduct a safe and successful hunt. This chore of putting an end to man-eating tigers seems to have been the burden of Baker. The work concludes with a riveting narrative of an actual case of hunting and eliminating a troublesome tiger.

Sue Tidwell lived in awe of Africa’s extraordinary wildlife. And getting attacked by blood-sucking tsetse flies the moment she stepped off the plane gave no hint of the mind-blowing change of perspective in her future. With her initial animosity turning into curiosity as they breathlessly tracked dangerous beasts, Sue formed a surprising bond with their young female government-assigned game scout.

Cow-Eatung Tigers of India
I paid only $7 for this title and still felt disappointed. Narrator sounds like a desktop computer reading someone's daily "hunting" notes. Let me save you time and summarize this book for you, "Tigers killed some cattle. We ride elephants, they were supposed to be well trained, the gun wavered, I still killed the tigers, the end". Unlike Jim Corbette who hunted ATUAL Man-eaters, this was just a "sportsman" who killed tigers, that were considered nuisance cattle killers. 1 man died bc he was mauled during a beat, where they shot any big cat they saw, not hunt down the specific man eaters. This was NOT a book about hunting, man-eaters, this was a dry, detail-less book of the wonton slaughter of big-cats. Read Jim Corbetts books!
