About this listen
Pierce Ambrose. That was the name of the man I'd been sent to kill. The man I'd failed to kill. I have one day left to make good on my contract before the thugs holding my sister and her son start sending me pieces of them.
Pierce Ambrose. A man with a secret I didn't uncover until it was too late to turn back, too late to give up on trying to kill him. Now, if I want to see my sister and nephew again, I have to try one last time.
My name is Mac Brennan, and this time I'm playing for keeps.

Story
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

Jazz Bashara is a criminal. Well, sort of. Life on Artemis, the first and only city on the moon, is tough if you're not a rich tourist or an eccentric billionaire. So smuggling in the occasional harmless bit of contraband barely counts, right? Not when you've got debts to pay and your job as a porter barely covers the rent. Everything changes when Jazz sees the chance to commit the perfect crime, with a reward too lucrative to turn down.

Dark hero's & mayhem.
well I read the first book then bought the Kindle series of six. After listening to book one's Audible sample I purchased books One and Two on Audible and if anything book two is even better.
James Patrick Cronin does a very credible job with his voice characterisations. To me he made it a pleasurable listen. He is also on my approved list of Narrators..
I am pleased to say I have added yet another author to my list of good and interesting authors.
Kindle Unlimited started me on this series and yes I indeed could have read the entire series on unlimited. But really let's support our authors by purchasing their work, both Kindle and Audible.

!Still kept my attention
I wish the author stops ending this series in a cliff hanger. ***The cliff hanger to find his sister in book one ends with it UNRESOLVED here! *** The author presents 2 conflicts. One is resolved and the main one, for Mac making a pack with the demon is still unresolved.
Despite that, I will get the next one when it is released. There is action from the first to the last of the book. And ohhhhh that last action was great! He has just one day to complete his task and in 6 listening hours he is captured countless times, fall in love, chased by zombies and did not completed part of his goal from book 1. There is no down time in the action. You really get a feel that they are racing against time.
Mac has become more confident as he memories return. But a greater part of his confidence for him is his handling of his current situations; ie did he maim instead of kill? He feels guilty about withholding information from Ricky and tries to keep his feelings to himself because of it. The fact that he realizes this is a sign of a "goodness" in him and not a demon.
Ricky is a bad ass alpha werewolf who can kick the ass of a gargoyle and keep on ticking. She elaves dead or broken bodies in her wake. She is such a dynamic character. She needs her own series at least a novella on her and Mac as teens. Someone should have told Mac about having a short live span for telling half truths to a woman. He should be dead from misleading an alpha. *** spoiler *** The fact that she did not kill him speaks to their pass and current relationship.
So Ricky and Mac are kicking ass and taking no prisoners when Ricky gets into a little ***spoilers*** trouble. No that is not correct, she gets serious life threatening trouble. That is when we meet a demon hunter called Dante. He is insufferably confident and pretty much tells Mac that later, Mac will die by his hands. Yet ... That is where I will leave you.
Book 1 it was good. Book 2 is even better. I still could not be more generous with the stars. I do not like cliff hangers.

A great 2nd book in the series
I was given this free review copy audio book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
This book is a light, action packed romp through a world full of the supernatural. It has great dialog, interesting characters and solid narration. I'll definitely continue the series.

Action, humor, werewolves, adventure!
Marked (The Thrice Cursed Mage #2) by J.A. Cipriano is the second book in the series but could be read without reading the first one first. In this book, Mac is sent to kill a deadly killer. This killer also has a werewolf's brother. Mac and the lovely werewolf work together to try to track down this killer and that is where all the fun begins. Lots of action, adventure, fights, touch of romance, humor, great plot, creatures, and great fantasy. Great ride of a read!

Look out, old Mackies back in town!!
Mac is back on the attack in book two of the thrice cursed mage. Much like the first book, this one also ends with a cliffhanger. THAT IS NOT A BAD THING!!!!! I hate when a book wraps up everything with a nice neat bow. Life goes on, and stories continue, and this picks up where book 1 left off, only now Mac is getting back some of himself. Memories are returning, along with a decidedly brutal girlfriend, whom you would not want to make angry. I mean that in a "You wouldn't like me when I'm angry, Mr. McGee." kind of way. She is a true howl anda hoot, and woe be those who get in her way.
After this series ends I want a spinoff of her. She is that cool.
There are some really cool characters (Galpal and Dante), tons of action, some humor, and a touch or two of magic getting tossed in just for kicks. This is pure Urban Fantasy at its finest. I must admit, as much as I loved book 1, thisone outdoes the original. I think that is because we get to see a bit more of who Mac is, and why he is the way he is.
Cronin narrates the tale, and amps up the narrative. His dialogue flows like honeyed water poured in your ear, and he can throw action at you like a pitching machine in overdrive. Even though I did receive a promo code for this review it in no way influenced my considerations of the material, and in fact, inspired me to be more honest. In fact, getting a code generally makes me harsher as a reviewer as I am more often concerned what someone like Me will decide based on my review.

A Good Listen
Any additional comments?
It is a good story. It is fast and fun. The writer has a good wit (if a bit repetitive). A couple plot twist were contrived. And, it was bit too short. The reader was excellent. All in all worth the credit. There are two additional books in the series not yet on Audible. I would definitely continue the series especially if Cronin does the narration.

Finally got some J.A. Ciproano back in my library.
The politics behind why some of my favorite authors aren't getting any love from Amazon is bothersome and I only know what's been shared on FB. This book is cool and I will keep looking for more J. A. Cipriano books
