About this listen

Mason Greene returns home from the war, but people see his episodes and want to have him committed to a mental hospital. However, no matter how hard he tries, he can't stop being drawn back into the fighting in his mind.

He flees to Colorado and secludes himself on a farm, providing for himself and never venturing out. That all changes, however, when he discovers an exhausted woman collapsed on his property. She’s endured a tragedy of her own, but he never thought rescuing her would change his life in so many ways.

Sweet Story

This story was written well, and narrated well. I enjoyed it and found myself wishing it would continue. Another great book by this author!

My review was given in exchange for a copy of the audible book. My thoughts are my own.

Delightful!

What a wonderful story that had strong emotions and great character development. As with all wars, the civil war left many men affected and Jared was one of them. Then he found an exhausted woman that had collapsed on the edge of his property. All of her family had been killed and he took her home to help her. Then things changed to turn his life upside down. The narrator did a great job with his voice of the characters.

Life was much different 150 years ago

The marriage of convenience between Mason and Carrie wouldn't happen in most cases today for two people who spent the night together under innocent circumstances. However it was interesting to see how the two of them worked together to make their marriage work. Their story is a good lesson for us on how a marriage that is not perfect can work when the husband and wife work to honor God.

Loved the audiobook!

Such a great audiobook! I enjoyed the story and the narrator. Both Mason and Carrie had problems but Carrie seemed to be able to put hers aside if she didn’t dwell on it. Mason thought of himself as a broken man but Carrie tried to help him as much as possible. She didn’t want to give up on helping Mason and he didn’t want to give up his idea that he was troubled.
A little romance, a little trouble and a whole bunch of stubbornness from Mason and Carrie makes this a wonderful story. Try this inspirational romance. I think you will enjoy the audiobook.
I received a complimentary copy of this audiobook from the author but was not required to write a positive review. All opinions are my own.

Sweet story

Mason and Carrie both had pasts that haunted them and they both felt lost. They ended up in a marriage of convenience to save Carrie's reputation. But God had it all planned and helped them to rescue one another. This is a really sweet story and I highly recommend not only this audio book but I highly recommend this author! She is one of my favorites for sure.

The narration was well done which is so important when listening to an audio book.

I requested this audiobook from the author and am voluntarily leaving this honest review.

Tough Love

Wonderful story. Great narrator. What we now call PTSD, Mason returns from the war, with horrible nightmares, loud noises upset him and hates to get around people. On his way home, he discovered a woman on the road. He takes her to his farm and finds out that her family was killed. Carrie just wants to eat and rest. The Town finds out that a single woman spent the night at his house alone. They are forced to marry. It's a long battle, but Carrie wants to help Mason through his troubles.
I was given a copy of this book by the author for an honest review.

Great Story

PTSD is real and I think the author did a great job portraying it in this story. Mason suffered from the traumatic events of the war and thought being a recluse was the only way he could ever live. Carried suffered her own tragedy and had a lot to overcome. With her Christian writing skills, this author shows how the Lord led these two people together to help each other. I loved watching their love bloom, they both deserved a HEA and I am glad they found it together.

The narration was well done.

Love the overcoming themes

I love how this book progressed. God takes the broken and makes them whole!! I loved the story this told and how it took shape. A women broken from seeing her whole family dead, and a man broken from the war he fought in. The author couldn't have done a better job of wrapping it all up at the end! 🩷
