Publisher's summary

Even "death do us part" couldn't spoil her wedding day plans...Wedding planner Pali Moon is thrilled when a would-be bride shows up at "Let's Get Maui'd" inquiring about a lavish beach wedding. That is, until she learns it must be on Valentine's Day - just nine days away. Oh yeah, and one other little hitch - the groom disappeared at sea a week earlier. But the bride's convinced he'll be found safe and sound, so she's got a plan - and a man - to do a proxy ceremony if necessary. The day before the big nuptials a man's body washes ashore on a South Maui beach. Has the groom finally shown up? If so, what's it going to be - a wedding...or a funeral? This is the first book in the Islands of Aloha Mystery series.

This is a cozy mystery, which means no graphic sex or violence and very little "bad" language. It's set in Hawaii, and the main character is a local girl, mid-30s. This is the first book in an eight-part series, and I'd like the voice actor to be willing to commit to all eight projects.

Good, but not exactly my style

The premise & basic story line of this book were good, but I struggled with a couple of things. One was that the main character didn't really get involved in the actual mystery or show any leaning toward sleuthing until near the end of the book. The main thing for me though was that I didn't feel any real connection to the characters. They felt only partially developed to me & I didn't have much in common with any of them, so it just didn't click for me.

This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.

Head to Maui!

Where does Maui Widow Waltz rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This book was easy to listen to and held my attention. The narrator was great so this book ranks as one of my favorites that I will go back and listen to again.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Maui Widow Waltz?

The puppies and Sir Lipton will not soon be forgotten.

Which character – as performed by Rebekah Amber Clark – was your favorite?

My favorite character was Farrah. I just loved her.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When Farrah gave Hatch the little puppy.

Any additional comments?

This was so much fun to listen to and I will be looking for the next title in this series to delve into. I loved it.

like small Whirlpool try to pull down a boat

You have a wedding planner who doesn't have anything in her shop. she drives a clunker car that she drives her customers around in or lets them Drive. A millionaire bridezilla picking her. She has one roommate, she then takes in a fireman, X cop I'm still not sure what the heck he was all about on the couch, then she has a hippie friend who owns the grocery store that's junk, who has a dog that she thinks is a boy having puppies and then they're all living in her house. She puts up with all this greff from the bridezilla whos fiance is AWOL and is supposed dead. The story then goes on and on and on and gets weaker and weaker as it gets pulled down in this whorlpool of more confusion with more characters trying to buy her house her business, driving back and forth ugu. Did like some of the Hawaiian atmosphere and language, although every word she said in Hawaiian she basically clarified what it was in English which was unnecessary, like mahalo is thank you or aloha the Hawaiian greeting . skip this one, it's painful.
