Publisher's summary

Dark times have fallen upon Scotland. King David II is a prisoner of England. Angus McKenna, revered chief of Clan MacDougall, and his son-in-law Duncan McEwan sit in a dungeon in Edinburgh, accused of crimes against their king and country. Their wives are missing.

Can devotion, honor and fealty light a candle in the darkness?

Invoking the Bond of the Seven Clans, Nial McKee, son-in-law to Angus McKenna sets out to discover the truth behind the charges. While he enlists the help of his good friends Caelen McDunnah and Rowan Graham, his lovely wife Bree appeals to friends of her own for a much different kind of assistance.

But time is running out for Angus and Duncan. Friendship and love of family alone might not be enough to save McKenna’s Honor.

Fabulous! Minor glitches though.

I really liked this story. There was so much packed into just under five hours.

The characters are great. Wee William is one of my favorites. I made the mistake of reading ROWAN'S LADY before this one but it was good to see how things got to the point that's depicted in that book.

I felt quite strongly about Phillip when his childhood was described. I wanted him to be one of the good guys. Suzan Tisdale weaves very interesting stories and this one is no exception.

Brad Wills' voice is amazing. I could listen to him all day. (Wait, I did.) I think this series could have benefited from better proofreaders or editors, though. For example, toward the end of the book Robert Stuart is called Robert Lindsay. Also, some of the narration was repeated. Minor things in this particular book but this type of thing appears in each of these books. Rather annoying. Overall, very good listen.

The saga continues

Another great writing from Tisdale, the stories are similar, yet different. They keep me wanting more! The narrator does a wonderful job with voice brogue and English ayr, which makes it much more than a story being read for us.

STRONG PLEASANTLY SURPRISING STORY

If you could sum up McKenna's Honor in three words, what would they be?

Honor, Family, Love.

What was one of the most memorable moments of McKenna's Honor?

One of the most memorable moments of this book was when the children of the clan showed their feelings about McKenna's sentence to hang.

What about Brad Wills’s performance did you like?

I was thoroughly satisfied and surprised by Brad Wills's performance. I will definately listen to his other narrations.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The important thing that moved me through the entire book was the closeness of the clan. They didn't stop to wonder if they clan members were guilty or not, they were honor bound to help in any way they could, and they did.

Any additional comments?

I will begin by saying this is the first book I have read by this particular author. It is also the first audio book I've tried. I must say I was pleasantly surprised. I had braced myself for a boring long drawn out session of let's just get it over with and get to the end.

Within the first few minutes I was captured by the narration of this story. Very captivating and draws the listener in to await the next turn of the page, so to speak. This audible version makes a person feel as if they are there or as if they are watching a live play. The voices varied enough to give each character individuality. I am so glad this was my first audible book. It made me want to find the rest of the series and begin listening to them immediately. As they aren't on audio right now, I will instead of course go the first book in the series and begin reading. I realize I have started at the end but this book is great enough to stand on its own and it tells enough of the story so nothing feels like its left out.

One minute I found myself holding my breath to see what would happen next, and the next minute I found myself laughing out loud at some of the antics that were taking place.

If you are looking for a great audible book to listen to or a great book to read, you will not be disappointed in any way with this choice. The only thing I might recommend is to begin with book one and read them in order, but that is not really necessary.

It's good it was shorter

I couldn't stop listening. It was the best I've read so far by Tisdale. If it had been longer I might have had to go without sleep for a few days. The suspense and plot were awesome!

When Family Means Everything

What did you love best about McKenna's Honor?

McKenna's honor is a story filled with intrigue. It shows us exactly how far some people will go to protect their family.

What was one of the most memorable moments of McKenna's Honor?

The most memorable moment of McKenna's Honor was when the women and boys rescued Angus and Duncan. I was giggling the entire time!

What about Brad Wills’s performance did you like?

Brad does an amazing job of making each character in the book sound like a unique person. His voices made it easy to imagine the characters and get a feel for the emotion they were going through. He was able to infuse so much emotion into the story. I didn't feel like he was just reading the story. I felt like he was retelling a story he was part of to me.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

When family means everything.

Any additional comments?

Highland Mystery and Adventure!

This book is a novella of this series and not a full length novel. I would advise getting the first 3 books before listening to this one because this book elaborates on past events and gives more clarity as to how the Clan members connect while giving glimpses of the future Graham Clan (the next series). The author weaves a captivating tale that is full of mystery and adventure. A must for highlander lovers.

The narrator is wonderful in this series. He does an exceptional job with each voice....doesn't get any better!

Great medieval Scottish author.

Suzan Tisdale creates her agonists, protagonists & all others is such a way one feels they are present experiencing everything as the characters do. She has a good understanding of Scottish history & personalities of various clans.
