Publisher's summary

We weren’t meant to be together, but now we’ve been given a second chance....

There’s an unwritten rule about your best friend’s boyfriend, and I broke it when I kissed Joshua after Chelsea’s tragic death. I’ve stayed away from Williamsport ever since.

Until now. After a recent assault, the town I couldn’t leave fast enough seven years ago has become my refuge.

Except I don’t get a warm welcome. Joshua’s anger over the way I left radiates from his eyes like cut emeralds. That’s why I’m surprised when he insists I stay with him to keep me safe.

Now, he’s a sexy billionaire in charge of a real estate empire, and I discover our old friendship remains. As well as the secret feelings I've kept to myself for so long.

Acting on those feelings would still be a betrayal, and it’s clear to me that Joshua is reluctant to let another woman into his heart.

But when danger comes looking for me again, and I see how far Joshua is willing to go to protect me, will we finally have the courage to admit our feelings and move on from the past?

Meant to Be is the second audiobook in the Townsends of Williamsport series. This audiobook contains graphic language, violence, and discussions of sexual assault. This is a steamy, BWWM, contemporary romance. A happily ever after is guaranteed.

I love Tiffany Patterson's novels!

I had looked forward to listening to this book since I read the paperback version years ago. However, the female reader leaves a lot to be desired.

Joshua and Kayla gets their chance 🥲

It only to a death, an assault, jail, and seven years to make Joshua and Kayla gets their chance. A second chance at a first time was what these two needed to have their love for each other shine. They had to go through a few things to have that understanding of each other and see their future together be that something they both wanted.

Joshua had a chance to miss what he had and cherish what he had returned to him. Kayla had a chance to gain back a few things she lost along the way. Seven years changed the both in different ways.

Friends family and live are a major cornerstone in the Townsend’s world. These two narrators brought Joshua and Kayla to life. I would have liked a bit more variation in the female characters but was satisfied.

Meant to be

Story is slow and boring and at times just plain stupid. Lacy Laurel is one of the most awful Narrators she has a annoying voice especially when she does the male voice with no base and it sound like the male has a severe sinus problem. The other Narrator was good. It because of Lacy Laurel I was unable to finish listening to the audio book. And why I could only give 3 stars.

It’s okay

I read this book a few years ago when I first got into romance, specifically IR, but after listening to it and “reading” it a second time I’m not as enthralled as I thought I was.

First, the male narrator sounds Latino, though I am not a linguist or study dialects in my spare time, he definitely doesn’t sound…how I would expect a Townsend to sound. I don’t know why the male narrators for this authors books are a miss, but they are (where is Connor Crais when you need him?).

Anyway, the story… I wish the FML had a personality, she didn’t. I also didn’t see how their romance formed. One minute she came back, the next she moved in, then they were having seggs. That’s it. You don’t get to see or experience their bond from childhood, you’re just told that they were close. You’re told that she used to be fun, you’re told a lot. You don’t really experience it. I kept wondering why a lot of the story transpired how it did.

As someone I committed relationship for more than 10 years I can’t wrap my head around their connection or the “why”. But, it’s an okay book. I can see how people who like smut and a little bit of a story would love this book. I, personally, like a nice balance with the smut thoughtfully placed, but the story has to pull me in and I have to see and feel the connection. It was a miss for me.

And my goddess, Lacy, it’s pronounced nat-chur-o-pathic or Nat-chur-op-ethy like “natural” not “Nate-ur-op-ethy. Not like “nature”.
