Merried by Jamie Farrell

Would you consider the audio edition of Merried to be better than the print version?

I don't have a copy of the print version in order to compare.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Merried?

Max sick in bed and Merry there to nurse him.

Which scene was your favorite?

The bachelor auction... and then the ending scenes.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

No crying, But it did make me laugh a few times.

Any additional comments?

MERRIED, the 5th book in Jamie Farrell's Misfit Brides of Bliss series is Max Gregory's story. Max's family owns the With This Ring jewelry store in Bliss. Max who found the Golden Bouquet and has been cursed with seven years of bad luck in love. Of course, Max says, Who cares if all his girlfriends leave him, that's just life... not a curse. Max doesn't believe in curses.

Merry Silver was the last woman to leave Max. Not because he's cursed, but because she's cursed with a family that is trouble... especially for someone in the jewelry business. The last place she wants to be is back in Bliss. Back in the town where Max lives so that she can relive her heartbreak every time she sees him. But her Mom is getting married. Again. And this time it simply must be in this lovely, romantic town that is completely focused on weddings. Nothing less will do when it's your seventh marriage.

As typical of Ms. Farrell's writing this story was sweet and humorous in so many ways. I really loved the ending, but have to admit I struggled a bit through the book. First of all, I missed the more constant input of the major characters and townspeople of Bliss I've grown to love that were in the first four books. But more than that, the constant back in forth in time in order to relate Max and Merry's story was sometimes hard to follow. But again, there were so many memorable scenes, new quirky characters to love, and a fabulous ending that made me so glad I stuck it out to the end. 3.5 stars

~I listened to the audio version of Merried and was very pleased with the character portrayals voiced by the narrator.

More humor!

Merry and Max made for a hilarious couple. Anyone who enjoyed Kimmie's dreams will enjoy Merry's quirks. The entire story had the humor that the rest of the Bliss series has had. Old couples were seen, but you don't have to have read the other stories to enjoy this one. I absolutely loved reading this book and can't wait for more from Jamie Farrell. Karen White is the perfect narrator for this series and I really enjoy her renditions. It gets 5 stars from me and I will be listening to it again.

Thoroughly Entertaining!

Jamie Ferrell never disappoints....this is just another example of her amazing ability to thoroughly entertain! I giggled out loud many times throughout the story and enjoyed all the characters’ comical ways, and the funny predicaments that came up were so humorous. I loved the internal conversations between Merry(Amber) and her book characters Phoebe Moon and Zack…so funny! My heart went out to Merry who has suffered with the consequences of having a jewel thief for a father. Her huge accomplishments with her secret life are admirable considering what she has gone through. Of course Max is simply amazing you just can't help but love him and hope for a good ending for him and Merry. This was truly an enjoyable story and Karen White once again does a wonderful job of bringing it to life.

Learning to step out of the box you’ve made for yourself

I loved, loved Merry and Max’s second chance romance with a side of criminal dad and secret identity. Oh the feels in this one - so many secrets and so much past pain but also so much love and swoons. Merry is the daughter of a jewel thief and the secret author of a popular kids’ book series. Max is the manager of his family’s jewelry store in small town Bliss. Max and Merry dated a year ago until she disappeared without explanation. Merry is currently in Bliss to help her mother plan her 8th wedding. Merry just wants to get past her mother’s wedding and leave the country so she can finally be free of her criminal father’s interference in her life. But feelings do not always listen to agendas and Max and Merry need to deal with their pasts to get to any kind of happy life because they continue to negatively impact their lives in the now. This is a heartwarming and hilarious romance full of sweet moments, steamy scenes, laugh out loud moments, supportive friends, messy families, painful pasts, and all the heart squeezing love. I especially loved the parallel storytelling of their first chance a year ago and their second chance today. It was a unique way to explain the past. Plus the Phoebe Moon quotes - a fictional character who lives in the mind of a fictional character. 😊 I love this series and the town of Bliss.

Karen White did a fantastic job narrating and breathing life into the story and the characters with enough change of inflection, tone and cadence to voice multiple characters quite convincingly.

Max & Merrie

Nice twist compared to the earlier books in the series. Max is a cursed Jeweler and Merries Dad is Jewel Thief, and she disappeared on Max after finding out about his family's Jewelry store to protect him from her Dad. With both in denial about their feelings for each other and still do when she returns to Bliss for her mothers 7th wedding, and the fun and feelings run wild, and the road to their HEA

Absolute perfection!

If you could sum up Merried in three words, what would they be?

Heartwarming, romantic, perfection because every Jamie Farrell audio book can be described this way. While this is a romantic comedy both Max and Merry are guarding their hearts and when they finally open up and trust each other it never fails to bring a tear to my eye and joy to my heart.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Merried?

When the truth about Merry's father finally comes to light and she realizes how much he really loves her I just melted into a gooey puddle of love for both of them. There's nothing sweeter than the love between a daughter and her father.

Have you listened to any of Karen White’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have listened to all five of Jamie Farrell's Misfit Brides books as narrated by Karen White and I think she does a brilliant job combining the comedy, romance and heartfelt feelings between the hero and the heroine. I have to admit to really enjoying the way she drawls a southern accent as she did in the third book in the series, Smittened. I'm a huge fan!

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I cried through so many scenes I lost count. Merry's childhood was traumatic for both her and her mother and Max's grief over the loss of his grandparents made my eyes well up with tears but those are just two of many scenes that touched my heart in a way I won't soon forget.

13 year old protagonist

I love all of her books however, this one was an exception. Having to hear the 13 year old protagonist in the book that the main character "Merry" was writing was painful. Every time I would be getting into the story the 13 year old's voice popped in ruining it. I couldn't finish it for that reason.
