About this listen
Considered one of the great English novels, George Eliot's Middlemarch, A Study of Provincial Life follows myriad characters and their lives in the eponymous town, Middlemarch, in the 1800s. Perfect narration of a great novel.
This is a real tour de force with over a hundred characters. It is superb reading of a great English novel from Alison Larkin, perhaps best known for her narration of The Complete Novels of Jane Austen. This performance is nuanced, deep but light and in true Larkin style, she makes a novel written a long time ago accessible to the modern ear. I absolutely love this audio book.
Middlemarch is a very famous novel for a reason - and it needs a narrator who can make it really easy to listen to. Alison Larkin is that narrator. I loved every minute of it, and so did my daughter.
