About this listen

In or out of the Alliances, sorcerers and necromancers are considered a myth - until a single, shadowy figure brings those myths to life.

In or out of the Alliances, nobody is prepared for that...

The BlackWing Pirates, a fleet of space cruisers that form a secret branch of the Alliance Security Detail, discover what a myth-come-to-life is capable of doing when this sinister aberration begins a slow and deliberate attack against the upcoming Joint Alliances Conclave.

In the ensuing chaos, where deaths are unexplained and the impossible becomes possible, the BlackWing Pirates' most effective weapon turns out to be a blind clairvoyant, who sees better than anyone when his eyes are closed...

Interesting

The story and narration was excellent. I have listened to books written in the first person before but this was the first one that had nearly every character in first person. It took some getting used to, but it was well worth it. There is a surprise ending that will make you want to get the next book in the series.

Well It Was Different

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I don't think so. this book is confusing since it is told from every character's point of view.

What other book might you compare MindSighted to and why?

This is the first book I have listened to from the first person from every character.

Which scene was your favorite?

When the prophet tried to destroy the blind guy Randyl.

Any additional comments?

I got this book via audiobook boom. There is a cliffhanger.

Very different pirate story

Sometimes there were too many said and other tags that could distract from the story. The overall story was very different and interesting with all the various characters including shifters. The narrator did an overall good job with the different voices some seemed hard to tell if the character was male or female but the main ones were spot on. Was definitely a different kind of pirate story.

Loved the crew

I wanted to check out Traci Odom's new narration, and MindSighted didn't leave me disappointed. It's a very nice ensemble piece. It feels like a cross between the TV series NCIS and Firefly.

If you find MindSighted a bit confusing, don't worry - that's because all the characters are written in first person. It's perhaps an experiment of sorts. Traci gives the characters credit, but this book would totally shine if each of the PoV characters had their own narrator. It would also work well as a movie, what with the characters being werewolves, winged creatures, shape-shifters and demons...

Despite being totally different in nature, status and skills, the Blackwing pirates are a very inclusive and supportive bunch, which our two main heroes (Randall and Sabrina) find out when they join them on an investigation of what seems like the work of a necromancer.

There's everything in this book. Magic, lasers, demons, princes, meditation and weightlifting. Try it out. It's a delightful mashup. I'm kinda looking forward to the next one :)

How Amazing!!!

This is one of the best books I have ever read/listened to!!! I Adore Randall he’s such an awesome person and the way he uses his gifts is admirable. My only complaint is with Audible why they don’t have all of the series is so frustrating. If you’re a Suttle fan then you know most of her series go together!!! Sooo Frustrating Audible get your act together. Highly recommend

Sci-fi and Fantasy combined in a interesting way.

This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.
I was surprised I liked this as much as I did. I didn't think I would like the genre fusion but it worked. Suspend disbelief and jump in.
The narrator did an excellent job. Great tempo and voicing. Way to go Traci Odom.

A bit confusing

Any additional comments?

There was potential for a good listen. But the sheer number of characters and the story using each one's point of view was needlessly complicated. I hung in there hoping for clarity that never came. Too much switching between characters points of view just took me out of it. I was voluntarily provided this review copy audiobook at no charge by the author, narrator, and/or publisher.

And nowI'm hooked on another Connie Suttle series

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

OMG yes!!!

This book is just fantastic! Not that I'm surprised, I've loved all of Connie's books so far.
The storylines contain a huge amount of detail, I have no idea how Connie keeps track of it all as she writes but it makes for a spellbinding book to read.

What other book might you compare MindSighted to and why?

Mindsighted builds on other series that Connie has written so it contains similarities to them. I can't think of anyone else who produces books like Connie's.

Have you listened to any of Traci Odom’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I've listened to quite a few and this one is brilliant as always. Traci is my favorite female narrator. the level of skill she brings to her recordings makes them second to none in my opinion.
The range of voices she is able to bring to life is so vast I have to remind myself sometimes that they're all produced by one person.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, I wasn't able to stop listening, I was hooked and had to know what was going to happen next.

Any additional comments?

Elements of Connie's other series show up in this book, but you don't need to have listened to them to be able to enjoy this book.

Entertaining but confusing

Any additional comments?

Fantasy, Paranormal and Sci-Fi. This book has a bit of everything. It's a combination of several different genres. Which makes for a creative, interesting and entertaining combination.

Evidently this story pulls you back into a world the author previously created in her previous series, so this is a continuation or next generation for that series.

Even though this is the first book in this new series it was very confusing in the beginning. It almost feels like you need to read the previous series to fully understand this story, their world, what is going on and who everyone is. It's a big universe inside this story and it's full of an eclectic, unique and unusual mix of characters and the world they live in with enough going on to fill every inch of it.

Vampires, pirates, space alliances, mindspeak, abilities, magic, a blind clairvoyant and a necromancer to just name a few of the elements in this story.

The POV is constantly shifting from character to character. On the one hand this keeps the story moving at a really fast pace. On the other hand it's really confusing trying to keep track of all the characters. Slowly but surely as the story unfolds it pulls you in and the storyline becomes clear. It does end in a bit of a cliffhanger.

Traci Odom does a fantastic job with the narration. Pleasant voice. Easy to listen to for long periods of time. Clearly spoken with a nice even pace. Great character voices. Even her male character voices are good. She brings the characters to life through her narration. Always a pleasure to listen to her narrate a book. Very enjoyable.

Too many main characters!

Would you try another book from Connie Suttle and/or Traci Odom?

Having read 2 of her series, this one was a big disappointment.

Has MindSighted turned you off from other books in this genre?

No

How did the narrator detract from the book?

I don't think any narrator could define so many different characters in one book.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Disappointed in the story line.

Any additional comments?

I got the book, because the audio just didn't cut it. It was
Only slightly better. Save your audio credit for a different book.
