Publisher's summary

Most people are happy to go through life paying no attention to the detrimental effects of some foods and drinks they consume. They live for the moment. When their health begins to fail, they run to a doctor for a magic pill that doesn't exist. The doctor's prescriptions hide the illness but seldom heal anything, and their health continues to spiral downhill.

I can't count the times I have heard the words "I have to die of something, so I may as well enjoy myself." My mother said it to me before she died, and the price she paid was terrible. She was trapped in a very painful and useless body, with no ability to take care of any bodily needs. I have seen the same thing in many church members.

The medical community, for the most part, is made up of selfless, dedicated servants who want to do the best they can for their patients. But they were educated in institutions controlled by the pharmaceutical industry, and its motive is to make as much money as the market will bear. Their medications are proving ineffective in our fast-moving world. The medical model is broken according to a number of professionals at The Evolution of Medicine Summit and other professional summits.

This book is very comprehensive and will be helpful for people with many diseases - some of them considered terminal. It presents information everyone can use and includes contact information for many doctors who are on the leading edge of innovative medicine. That information alone is worth the price of the book.

Revealing and Informative but biased

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I did like some of the general recommendations on diet and using nutraceuticals to help with illnesses, but felt that the book lacked some clarity on how those minerals actually help. The facts were often implied without strong references.

What aspect of Eddie Leonard Jr.’s performance would you have changed?

Good job overall!

Any additional comments?

A Lot of Important Information Here

"Modern Nutrition Breakthrough Secrets" for the most part is a must listen for many people. It's packed with information about things you need to know from fluoride, diabetes, antioxidants, prescription medication vs. natural vitamins and minerals, and many other things to being healthy and living longer.

I really found the part about the vitamins people buy at the shopping mart interesting and know this to be true. Also regarding the fluoride was something you can't drive home enough. I think if a person doesn't know the dangers of these things and/or wants to learn ways of improving their health, this book is a real eye-opener.

Eddie Leonard Jr. did a good job narrating this book. He was fairly monotone but this is that type of book. There were places he put more emphasis on that were of utmost importance which was good. Overall, I'd say he delivered the author, George J. McClelland's info as he intended it to be heard.

Very Informative

This health book is jammed packed with vital information for anyone who is struggling with health issues. The author gives advise, options and hope to people who are dealing with a health crisis or who just want to improve their overall health.

Many years ago I dealt with a health issue and after many appointments and tests my Doctor couldn't give me a diagnosis. He made me feel as if it was all in my mind. I was losing faith in Doctors and the medical field in general I quit that Doctor and found a different one who, thank God, believes in a more holistic approach. With the help of this new Doctor I've gotten better and am so thankfull. I was delighted to see that the author of this book advises many of the same things that my current Doctor suggests, as well as information I didn't know about. I will be purchasing this in book form as a reference and because I want to show it to my Doctor.

The narrator did a really good job with this book. It had to be quite challenging narrating this type of book because of the medical and supplement terms. He mispronounced some words but who am I to complain. I have trouble pronouncing them too.

I recommend this book to everyone......especially those who want a different or in my opinion better approach to health issues.

Note: I was given this audio book by the narrator in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.

Good Information, May Be Better In Print

Author and Nutritionist George J. McClelland provides a host of information. It is evident that he is passionate about educating consumers about food, diet, and how it directly relates to health issues. Yhe explanations are clear, valid, and relevant.

He may inadvertently turn off readers/listeners with repetitive statements such as “You need to look it up yourself…,” “You need to understand that…,” and You must…”. I am a long-time vegetarian (healthy choices, limited processed foods and sugar) who, over the last several months, has adapted a vegan lifestyle. Recently I spoke with a cardiologist who claimed he did not know the difference between vegetarianism and veganism. Having experiences as this, I understand and respect McClelland’s determination to help others regain control of their diets and their health by considering alternative healing processes. Coming off too preachy could deter his intent.

It is clear that narrator Eddie Leonard Jr.’s did his homework on the correct pronunciation of the many multisyllabic chemical and botanical terminology because he pronounces them well as he reads. Unfortunately that is all he does—read. The dry, flat tone does not as much as hint at the heighten excitement in McClellan’s words, admonitions, and encouragement. On another note, Leonard has not full honed his enunciation skills. He tends to fade out the last syllable of many words. This kind a book may be best in print form, but audiobook format is a must for those who are vision impaired so sharp enunciation is paramount in any case. Last, projecting a bit of enthusiasm is a “Nice to Have” for any listener.

DIY Nutrition

What did you love best about Modern Nutrition Breakthrough Secrets?

I found the content of this audiobook to be quite interesting. IMO, the quality of the narration just doesn't do adequate justice to the quality of the book's content. The narrator speaks verrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrry slowwwwwwwwwwwwly-I just couldn't take it anymore until I sped it up to 1.25 or 1.50 the normal speed-then it became bearable.

The material itself was very thought-provoking. In some instances, the author provided recommendations on where listeners can purchase quality supplements; in other instances, no recommendations were given. I found this to be frustrating, especially since the author argues that some company's supplements were inferior to supplements from other companies-yet, in some cases, no recommendations on where to obtain the superior supplements were provided!

I think the quality of this audiobook would increase dramatically if the author were to provide an accompanying PDF with this audiobook.

Not a Lot of Meat

Pun intended. There is a lot of information that might be useful to a person who doesn't know anything about modern diseases and what causes them and has no clue that food can be used to heal many ailments. But, I'll say it again, there is no meat to the information. There are a lot of statements to the effect that McClelland knows what to eat or take and how to dose but he can't tell you because the government would come after him. If you are looking for help with actual details the only one you'll find in this book is that pycnogenol is a cure all and you have to take a specific amount of mg per pound of body weight for it to work its magic.

The narration was rather terrible and it was hard to struggle through the listen even on 1.5 speed.

I received this audiobook for free through Audiobook Boom! and am leaving honest feedback about the quality of the material.
