About this listen

With their initiate year over, the Pettit family dispersed to their separate adept postings: Jenn would be on the border with Krogga, defending against incursions. Yukiko was to patrol near Alturis, giving her the chance to see Gregory’s home and childhood friends. Mindy was going back to Grackle to help their younger friends with their troop training. Gregory was headed off to the far northern end of the empire, going to what was known as the most dangerous patrol for an adept magi.

Gregory was sure that Sage Laozi Windfoot had set his posting there to make sure no one said he’d played favorites, but it made him worry for his men— it would take months to get to the town of Coldwood, and his year wouldn’t begin until he relieved the current adept. That would make it closer to a year and a half before his family could gather together in Krogga.

To get there, Gregory would need to use his foresight and knowledge to survive. It wasn’t just the bane beasts that would make the post dangerous, but the eurtik who lived in the north, too. The free eurtik were hunted by slavers, but were also known to attack slavers and magi guard units alike to try to free their kin.

If that wasn’t enough, Gregory would also need to play politics while in the twin towns of Coldwood and Icelake. Both had magus-tier magi posted to them, as incursions of eurtik and bane beasts were common. They were probably the worst kind of magi: those who loved eurtik slaves, or would willingly profit off helping the slavers.

Gregory would need to make hard choices for his adept year. What would he let happen around him while posted to the most dangerous part of the empire? Was it better to turn a blind eye to get by as easily as possible, or would he stand in the way of the powerful people there?

Love this story line

I love that you have made it so much more in depth since book two and allowing Greg to be separated and scarred to become more of his own masculine leader he needs to be

Great Read for anyone into the isekai/litrpg genres

I love this series, more so because of the narrator. There are some voices that just grate on me but Andrea Parsneu is my absolute favorite. This book is more of a xianxian or cultivation novel than a litrpg or isekai but those genres overlap in many ways in general. The character development is very well done, as well as the lore building in the world. I would like to see more descriptive representations of physical scenery and architecture but with it being written this way it can be adapted for TV or anime series pretty easily. I don't know the author obviously but it feels like this was intentional. I also love the fact that it may be a harem novel, but it is not overly sexualized. Yes, there are some full release scenes but those are few and far between while leaving most up to the readers imagination which I truly enjoy. It let's me get a real sense of romance from the characters without getting fed up with the cheesy sexual references. This series so far has blended cultivation, harem, erotica and fantasy pretty seamlessly and is worth the time.

Fantastic narration, and a Writer not afraid to touch on difficult topics.

Once again great Narration. This book is a good setup for future books. I wish that more of the other characters were included but I believe the author has chosen to make the main character the one who has to make the difficult choices. Make you the judge of his actions alone.

Great again

Another great book in the series by the author. The only bad thing about this book is the amount of time I’ll have to wait till the next volume comes up.

As always, Andrea did a great job voicing all those voices she truly brings meaning and feeling into each characters, unique voice and personality. Can’t wait for the next one Daniel. Hope you’re working hard.

First series I’ve read with 7 books at all 5 stars

If I can be completely honest I’m truly sad I gotta wait for book 8 but ecstatic that there is a book 8 coming! This universe that has been created in these books is top notch. Its a fascinating place in my mind chocked full of stories and lore. This could be a HBO show, an anime, a manga or all of the above. I know it will be a few more months before book 8 drops and then probably a couple more before it’s here on Audible. Honestly I’ll probably just buy book 8 and read it as I’ll not want to wait that long lol. Book 7 is another great gem in this story and in a few years I hope I’m on book 12 or 13.. this series could go on for a very long time.
