About this listen

Falling for the wrong person? Bury your feelings.

Callum Flannelly would rather dive into an open grave than take a stranger to dinner. But he can only inherit the family undertaking business under one condition: He must marry before his 35th birthday. So it’s out of the mortuary and into the dating scene.

Lark Thompson came to Galway, Ireland to embrace life, not be reminded of losing her husband by moving in next to a funeral home. Then, the vivacious Texan animator learns of painfully shy Callum’s dilemma and makes it her mission to help him find The One.

Although she's sworn off love herself, she’s certain Callum will find his match. But as the dating project progresses and their friendship grows, their attraction is undeniable. Spending time with serious, sarcastic Callum starts to crack the ice around Lark’s heart, and the more color Lark brings to Callum’s monochrome existence, the less he can imagine life without her.

If they think they can ignore their connection, they’re dead wrong.

TikTok sensation Morbidly Yours is an opposites-attract romantic dramedy about a shy, demisexual Irish mortician who must marry by his thirty-fifth birthday to keep his beloved family business, and the Texan widow escaping her past who moves in next door.

Original story

As a Texan that dreams of moving to Ireland and falling in love, I give this book 10/10! Such a sweet and original story. I love that grief was addressed, that death and mortality was discussed and tucked in nicely to this little rom-com. I appreciate that Callum had a stutter…representation! Can’t wait for more books written by Ivy! Will auto buy them all!

Cute

Overall this is super cute and 100% worth the read. The book had a cute twist to the grumpy/sunshine mix and I loved the MMC.

Grief Romance

The premise of this book caught my attention from the start. It talks about processing and handling grief throughout. We see how people handle loss differently. Pain can sometimes recognize pain and you may find a friend in the most unlikely of places.

Lark is dealing with survivor's guilt in a way and blaming herself for the death of her husband. Her best friend Rachel lashed out and hurt her when she needed her the most so she packed up her life for a new start in Ireland.

The introverted man next door struggles to put himself out in the world and he must if he intends to keep his family business. His grandfather wanted him to carry the torch, but he also wanted him to find someone to share life with. Now he must marry before his 35th birthday.

Lark befriends Callum and helps spruce up his dating profile. She has sworn off marriage herself, but is willing to help him get out of his comfort zone. They become each other's support system during life's struggles.

It is a cute story with room for more. I expect this will be a series that follows some other characters that we have met along the way. The ending felt a little rushed, so it would be great to have a bit more information in a future book. I loved that this author did not shy away from the topic of grief. It is an important topic that often authors shy away from.

Cute!

This was a really cute little romcom a Texan and an Irishman go really well together. The narrator had a really good accent, even as someone from the south she did. The story was really slow at first, but picked up midway through the book.

Cute

Cute book. Not a strong MFC but she grows by the end. Narrator has a very nice voice, but her Texan accent is not a Texan accent (coming from someone who lives in Texas) but if you ignore that, she is a very enjoyable listen. The character does get quite frustrating somewhere in the middle though. Enjoyable side characters. I really enjoyed MMC’s growth and his voice is super dreamy. A nice pick me up book.

WOW

I wanted to read something a little more fall-y and I kept having this book recommended to me because I work in the funeral industry. I was a bit skeptical going into it but my god, this book surprised me. It was SO cute and heartwarming. It kept my attention through the entire thing, made me laugh and cry. The characters are so easy to fall in love with and I am so excited to hear that there will be more in this series!

Perfect listen for accents!

The two words that best describe this book are wholesome and horny!

I am absolutely kicking myself for waiting so long to read this book but it was such a beautiful read. There is so much representation woven throughout the story, but in particular I loved the grief and loss rep.

I listened to this book on audible, and thought the audio was perfection. I believe this is the right terminology, this is dual narraration audio (one narrator a chapter). And both Lark’s southern drawl and Callum’s Gaelic trills made the listen so enjoyable!!

I’m excited for what Ivy brings us next!

Unexpectedly good

I enjoyed this far more than I thought. Older (30s) adults, funny, sweet, and such a lovely story.
