About this listen
When worlds collide, shadow wrestles light.
Seventeen-year-old Cera Marlowe wants a normal life; one where she and her mom can stop skipping town every time a disturbing vision strikes. But when a girl she knows is murdered by a monster she can't explain, Cera's world turns upside down.
Suddenly thrown into an ancient supernatural battle, Cera discovers she's not alone in her gifting and vows to use her visions to save lives. But why does John Milton's poem Paradise Lost keep interrupting her thoughts?
In a race against time and a war against unearthly creatures, will decoding messages embedded in the works of classic literature be enough to stop the bloodshed and protect those she loves?

"Ninety-five days, and then I'll be safe. I wonder whether the procedure will hurt. I want to get it over with. It's hard to be patient. It's hard not to be afraid while I'm still uncured, though so far the deliria hasn't touched me yet. Still, I worry. They say that in the old days, love drove people to madness. The deadliest of all deadly things: It kills you both when you have it and when you don't."

Amazing read!
This book has such wonderful descriptive writing and the story pulled us in from page 1. There were so many tense moments it was really hard to stop listening when we pulled in the garage! It's a great book for 12+ with some themes of romance, identity, belonging, independence and interdependence. The audio performance is very well done, full of emotion and energy.

phenomenal
this story is so well done. I found it unlistened to in my app and decided to give it a go. I had to stop part way through to look up the author to see if she wrote Christian fantasy, because the worldview is there even though this is decidedly urban fantasy with no "come to Jesus" moment. I immediately got book 2, and am following this author!

So much ... Anger.
I thought this could have been a good story. But 5 chapters in, the story didnt progress beyond the mystery of why the mom and daughter had to keep hiding. It was too drawn out.
