Publisher's summary

A haunting curse. A voice from the past. A truth that will break her heart.

The Ambrose curse has stopped Amelia from following her heart. She’s accepted her fate as part of the generations of Ambrose women who’ve lost their husbands too young. So Amelia is determined to never marry, to never allow herself to fall in love.

Grigg Edison has been patient long enough. Two years, in fact. When Amelia confesses that she’s ready to test the power of the curse, all he wants is a chance. He’ll do anything, including risking his heart in order to uncover the origin of the ancient legend.

But for Amelia, the risk may be too great, and the roots of family lore too deep.

I really like this series

Amelia Ambrose is ready to try to break the "Ambrose Curse" that's plagued her family for generations. She's made a list of five of her favorite "almost-boyfriends" to see if one of them clicks. If that happens, she'll find out from her older half-sisters what she has to do to break the curse so she can settle down without worrying that the man she loves will die a premature death.

Grigg Edison, the other half of Ambrose & Edison, has been wanting to ask Amelia out for two long years, and he's tired of waiting. When he finds out about her list he wants to be on it. In fact, he wants to be the only one on that list. Can he convince Amelia or Mills as he calls her, to give him a chance?

I love this series, reading about each of the Ambrose sisters and the guys they fall in love with. The sisters are so different from each other, and I love their grandma. I liked that Amelia was ready to take the bull by the horns so to speak so she could find and have love in her life. Running her own company and being worth a lot of money doesn't mean much if you're alone, so Amelia faces down the curse and decides to do what she has to in order to break it.

Oh Grigg *happy sigh*. I loved how he wanted to double date with her, but the dates never really went well for either of them. That should've been a big, blinking, red sign. They knew each other so well--what each of them would drink or eat, etc. Was there anything not to love about Grigg? He's super smart, good looking, in shape, romantic, caring, fun, wealthy, and a great kisser. *swoon* I liked the suspense element in this one towards the end, although I wasn't that surprised when it happened.

You don't have to have read the others in this series to like this one but I think you'd enjoy it more if you do. I liked the narrator and thought she had a pleasant voice and did well with both the male and female voices.

Clean romance with a touch of magic

Story: 5 stars

Grigg and Amelia begin as friends complete with great banter and comradrie. Grigg has wanted more than friendship, but kept his feelings hidden. He has liked Amelia ever since really getting to know her and, because they are such good friends, he has been told all about the curse an why she’ll never get serious with any man.

Suddenly things change when Amelia finds out there’s a way to break the curse.

Grigg's insertion of himself in Amelia's love life is pretty funny and highly effective! They are partners in business, so a lot is on the line if they decide to pursue a relationship and it doesn't work out.

Another well-written book by Heather B. Moore. I liked that, unlike the other to sisters, this curse wasn’t broken by giving up something tangible. Amelia had to give up anger, fear and resentment. A difficult task, to be sure.

From fun friendship banter to wonderful kisses-this clean romance has it all!

Narration: 5 stars
Jenn Lee does an amazing job with the Texan accent for Amelia. The Texan accent isn't nearly as strong as the more traditional Southern accent and Ms. Lee did it perfectly! She did a great job with the male voices and with Amelia's grandmother's voice. I would absolutely listen to her in other productions!

Excellent audiobook

Rating:  4.5 stars

What I enjoyed about this book:

• The beginning of the story caught my interest and I began to root for Grigg to be noticed by Amelia.
• I liked the relationship of caring that Grigg and Amelia had. I felt it throughout the book.  They were people I easily became attached to.
• I laughed at some of Grigg's and Amelia's witty banter.
• How much baggage do we carry with us in life? Do we unconsciously drag it along life's pathway hindering our forward progression?  These were questions I pondered as I read this book.  I like books that make me think.
• The descriptions of locations and emotions were well done and easy to visualize. I felt a part of the scenes.
• Moore writes with an easy-to-follow prose that guides the reader without confusion.
• This story was well edited.
• This was a clean read.

This book can be read as a stand alone. I had not read the other books in this series. I imagine reading the earlier books would give extra insight into the Ambrose family dynamics, but they were not necessary. I will be going back and reading them because I enjoyed this book so much.

I was given an complimentary copy of this audiobook. My review was voluntary and my opinions were my own. I highly recommend this book.
