About this listen
Detroit artist Meagan Kelly has had a strong sixth sense all her life, but that doesn’t mean the gorgeous stranger’s crazy story—that she’s a half-elf, half human heiress—is true. But Meagan can’t deny the evidence of her own eyes—he’s Fae. A tall, blond, handsome, pointy-eared elf—and a man she just can’t get enough of.
Ric Thornhill’s assignment just got a lot more complicated. The more time he spends with Meagan, the harder it is to see her as a political tool to prevent an all-out war between humans and Fae.
Now Meagan’s in a race to master her newly released powers in time to prevent the conflict, convince a jealous Queen not to strip Ric of his powers, and find out if she can build a life that straddles two worlds.

Me and the legendary Zimmerman twins - it's a friendship made in geek heaven. And it all started back when I worked for the NSA... My best friend Basia dragged me to the beach for her idea of a vacation. All those annoying people, sand in embarrassing places - not exactly R & R for a girl who doesn't like the sun, the ocean, or bathing suits. I couldn't wait to get back to work. But things started looking up when I ran into Elvis and Xavier Zimmerman. We discovered we had a lot in common: gaming, anchovies, hacking.

Story
With indifferent parents, Iona Sheehan grew up craving devotion and acceptance. From her maternal grandmother, she learned where to find both: a land of lush forests, dazzling lakes, and centuries-old legends. Ireland. County Mayo, to be exact. Where her ancestors’ blood and magic have flowed through generations - and where her destiny awaits. Iona arrives in Ireland with nothing but her Nan’s directions, an unfailingly optimistic attitude, and an innate talent with horses.

Story
On an entirely normal, beautiful fall day in Chester's Mill, Maine, the town is inexplicably and suddenly sealed off from the rest of the world by an invisible force field. Planes crash into it and fall from the sky in flaming wreckage, a gardener's hand is severed as "the dome" comes down on it, people running errands in the neighboring town are divided from their families, and cars explode on impact. No one can fathom what this barrier is, where it came from, and when - or if - it will go away.

Narration makes all the difference in the world
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
The description of the this book along with a special offer had me downloading it. The author could take a lesson from JD Robb in the "In Death" series, when writing the sex scenes. She's trying to show people falling in love, not catching a quickie, so the gross wording and descriptions take everything away from thinking it's a love scene and not some guy hiring a hooker. The major issue I had with the book which sadly discolored the whole listening experience for me was the narrator trying to come up with what she thought was the correct accent for the main male character. Early in the story it was said he was from the British Isles, so the narrator who herself has a British accent, could have easily used that along with some male intonations to accomplish that role. Instead she ended up making him sound like someone from New Delhi rather than Wales. It was totally off-putting, and since it was a predominant character throughout the book it very much threw off the whole thing. I've noted the narrator for following books is different so hopefully that issue has been put to rest. Otherwise it was typical of what I assume is a "first book". The basic story was fun but overshadowed by the issues I mentioned. I wish the author well and expect to see improvement so I may very well try at least one more in hopes of seeing an improvement. Again, the slutty sex scenes very much detract from the book, had they been delivered in a classier love scene fashion it would have gone a long way toward improving the listening experience.
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Terry Donnelly?
The best narrator I've found is the one who reads all of the JD Robb's "In Death" series. She has the ability for accents and is wonderful.
What would have made this romance irresistible?
Making the sex scenes more into love scenes. Stop with the gross descriptions of actions and body parts, they really aren't needed to get the point across.
Any additional comments?
I truly believe the author will improve with time and experience.

Needs a different narrator
The story was good but would have been so much better if the narrator would have been different.
All of the accents seemed to be the same at the beginning but changed later on. It took a lot away from the story.

Do You Enjoy Books on the Fae?
If you have never listed to a book on the Fae, this is a good beginning. You will purchase the whole series, however, it is very addictive. The Karen Moning series should be your next "listen" if you like this book.

4 Star Story....1 Star Narration
I loved the story and had previously read the e-book, so had been very excited to listen to the audio, the narrator was horrible for this book. While she may be good on the other stuff she narrates she did not do this book or its author justice. I am happy to see that she does not narrate the second book in the series. It would be nice to see this one re-done in the future with a better narrator.

do not ever use this narrator
ok Cindy is wonderful but the reader of this novel droned on and on and on and there was no emotion where there should be and so many pauses that it made the reader sound realy bad i own hundreds of e books and audio books and i have never come across such a bad read job on a really great book ever now she has a nice voice but not showing a lot of skill just sounded bored dreadfully bored at that i will not buy another book she reads just left a bad taste.i am a avid reader and audio purchaser i suggest books to my group of military wives we read or listen and discuss many aspects and mrs pape is a great author this a good book but reader did not do this piece of work justice Melissa from awbr army wife book review club just a hobby group for moms wife's and women who love to read thanks audible i will recommend to our other ladies to come here and pick it up or get a written copy but to look past the reader i love you guys you got me through two deployments and another coming up thanks

I couldnt
Tried to love the story however the narrator ruined it for me I couldn't finish it. Stopped maybe halfway through and moved on to the next in the series.

Encore, please!
I really enjoyed this audible book. Are there any more from the author in this series?

ooooof, the narrator
the story idea is fun, but like so many people have already reported, the narration was terrible. she's painful to listen to. I did skip a big portion of this book, I enjoy a good sex scene in my books, but this one was monotonous and combine that with the narrator, it's not great. I like Spencer Papers other books that I've listened to, will try the next in this series, and I hope it's not as dull and unlistenable as this one.
