About this listen

A man must survive the zombie apocalypse armed with only a shotgun, a Samurai bat, and the will to live among the unliving in this horror series debut.

It’s been two years since civilization ended in an unstoppable wave of chaos and blood. Now, former house painter Augustus “Gus” Berry lives a day-to-day existence of waking up, getting drunk, and preparing for the inevitable moment when “they” will come up the side of his mountain and penetrate his fortress.

Living on the outskirts of Annapolis, Gus goes scavenging for whatever supplies remain in the undead suburbia below. Every time he descends the mountain could be his last. But when Gus encounters another survivor, he soon realizes the zombie horde may not be the greatest threat he faces . . .

Caught Me. . . Hook, Line, and Sinker!

Gus and Scott set up a safe house during this episode, feeling the safest and most hopeful for a possible future since the beginning of the apocalypse. Will it last. . .?

Being a late comer to this series, I actually heard the free download of "The Hospital" first. It was helpful for me to know about Gus's prior experience with Alice the nurse and what exactly happened to him before this book, as it explained a lot of pivotal information about his character development.

The narration by R.C. Bray is beyond stellar! He especially shined after Gus experienced an unexpected event, causing to him to speak much differently for most of the book. He did such a phenomenal job I could almost feel how it must have been for poor Gus. Mr. Bray is so incredibly talented, and the perfect narrator for complimenting the above par level of sapience Mr. Blackmore always delivers!

GREAT BOOK. Held my attention the entire time!

Story line was engaging with unexpected twists. I don't think there was a low point that I had to push through in the entire story.

Great Listen

What did you love best about Mountain Man?

Engaging story, the main character had some great one liners and the book showed some creativity in the Zombie genre

What other book might you compare Mountain Man to and why?

The book similar to the Zombie Fallout series by Mark Tufo. The book was a gook mix of building climaxes and comic relief.

What about R. C. Bray’s performance did you like?

Well rehearsed, solid performance.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Almost, it was hard to put down and get back to work at times.

Zombie heaven

This is a very entertaining and original spin on the zombie genre. I really liked the hero of this story (which I never expected!). I love it when hero's are relatable and where they dont do all the dumb things that you are screaming at them not to do when facing a zombie apocalypse. Cant wait for the next one.

Exceptional Listen

Even better than I thought after listening to The Hospital. Want to hear more. Really like the narrator. Keep looking for more by him after hearing The Martian.

Great title loved it

This title was recommended to me by a Undead/apocalypse type group I'm in, in Facebook because I had been through over 100 titles in a year and wanted something fresh that I hadn't heard of before. I don't know how this one slipped past my radar because I thoroughly enjoyed it. The story was great, just on the level of believe ability as in I'd be doing the exact things the mountain man was doing every step of the way & I also enjoyed the narrator, I've heard him several times before and he nails it every time.

Unexpectedly good

I'm not a huge zombie fan, but I really enjoyed this book. It has enough twists to make it not all about zombies. RC Bray as the narrator was what drew me to this book in the first place. He did not disappoint!
