Publisher's summary

How does one deal with the pain of divorce, with death, with poverty, with violence, with the everyday problems of life, she wondered. So, she asked....

One early morning just nine months after she and her husband of 27 years had separated, Pam Carlquist inadvertently began a dialogue that would change her life forever. In a moment of desperation, she sat down with pen and paper and cried out to God for help. To her surprise, she received an answer, a response so comforting and so wise that she continued the correspondence for over a year, indeed forevermore. The answers, though not what she had expected, launched her on a journey of healing and love.

This is a book that explores the essence of loss and that poses questions we all have asked. How does one fill the holes that become an inevitable part of one’s life? How does one find joy in the midst of pain? How does one tap into the remarkable resource of the human spirit to rise above adversity, fear, even death - and triumph?

The audience for this book includes all who question but, in particular, those involved in relationship breakups, those seeking peace in the throes of separation, those wishing to move at last past the pain...of divorce, death, or any parting of lives once joined. Moving with God Past the Pain...Of Divorce, Death or Any Parting of Lives Once Joined is a memoir, self-help, and spiritual book.

Honest, Moving, and Insightful

After separating from her husband, the author understandably asks God for answers and guidance, and God provides. Through continued conversation with God, she slowly changes her perspective from bleak to joyful, and her actions naturally follow suit. In doing so, she not only heals from her separation but learns to treat an array of open emotional wounds from her past. Her memoire is honest and moving. It reminds us to always choose love.

Moving and so healing...

I am so grateful to have experienced this Audible version and to have read the book itself. They have each helped me to transform so many of my misunderstandings and fears into love. I intend to listen to this again and again as I move past my own sorrows in life and to let this message of hope guide me to a happier way of being.

Powerful and Moving!

I loved this book. It took me a while to fully appreciate the two narrators, but after a few chapters I began to absolutely love the God voice and to enjoy the other narrator, as well. The messages were so full of joy and peace that I have changed my whole perspective on life and all of its challenges. Having just gone through both a breakup and a death of a loved one, I needed help—big time—and found it here in a very compelling way. I’m so glad I found this Audible at this point in my life.

Could not connect with this book.

I had difficulty committing to listening to the first few chapters, when from the first few minutes I knew this was not going to be helpful to me.
The format of the book is presented as the author speaking to God, and God speaking back. Two narrators are used, (both of which I found annoying) and they go back and forth in a continuos conversation that seemed light and breezy. I could not connect the level of pain I am feeling to this material; material that came across as a well intended cliche of encouragement. Perhaps the book is better being read in the traditional manner as opposed to the audiobook? It was a labored listening experience.
