Publisher's summary

"I'm no Mr. Perfect... but for Noah, I want to be."

It was just supposed to be a normal day at the Spruce crafts festival.
Instead, I accidentally save the life of my childhood crush Noah Reed.
And he has no idea how I feel at all.

He is adorable, tragically introverted, and frustratingly clueless about emotion.
Can't he see the longing in my eyes every time I look at his sweet face?
Doesn't he get it when I drop every dang sign there is under the Texas sun
that I have feelings for the guy?

To make matters worse, the mayor is organizing a pageant
featuring our town's hottest bachelors... and I'm number one on the list.

But I'm not interested in any other guys.
I'm seeing the bigger picture with Noah.

I'm hardly an example of perfection. I'm no Mr. Perfect.
But I'd better find a way to tell Noah how I feel soon
before this whole thing gets out of hand.
If it hasn't already...

M/M "secret romance"
Shy recluse & popular guy

Amazing, so sweet!!

I loved the main characters. I enjoyed that it was happy, basically the entire way through. Low angst. HEA. I love this author, his couples are amazing.

Another 5 star Spruce Texas story

From book 1 to this book, totally worth the read/listen. All around great. This book has a little more spice to it (not complaining), but still great. Wonderful! Now for the long wait for the next one.

Author and narrator gold

I luv this series! Each of the stories are hilarious heartfelt consuming and real to my heart. Noah with his intelligent innocence is so adorably loveable. Cole with his protective assertiveness yet some insecurity (they both share), is a knight in shining armor. I’ve read the entire series and can’t wait to revisit Spruce with the next book! I love the author reading his own words. Giving life to his characters. Love! Love! Love!

Boring, Especially for Spruce.

There are a lot of missed opportunities with the characters in this story solely based on the narration alone. The book feels out of place versus the rest of the series. The author is the narrator and does not make enough effort to differentiate between the characters voices. I often have to think who is talking? Which chapter are we in? Why is your voice so similar? I don't know where I am at in the book I need to look at the radio display. I returned this book once before because of those exact reasons, but I figured it was because I was in a super Michael Dean phase then. I gave this book a second try and it is still slow moving and I am bored with it.

Not my favorite book of the Spruce series

Slow moving & too much thinking by each character when something should be happening without hesitation. More spontaneity would make it more enjoyable. When Cole had his first kiss after the botched interview, he should have explained immediately why he did that and not let Noah leave. Prior to the photo shoot, Nadine should have let the filthy guy know explicitly what the event was and expectations. Nadine is a perfectionist and when he arrived, he should have been dismissed and a new guy take his place. To be perfectly honest, I stopped listening because I was bored. As a side note, I have enjoyed the other books and look forward to more.
