About this listen
My Lady Jane fixed Jane Grey’s tragic past—and now My Salty Mary will do the same for the infamous pirate Mary Read!
Perfect for fans of The Princess Bride and A Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue, New York Times bestselling authors Cynthia Hand, Brodi Ashton, and Jodi Meadows are back with a fantastical, romantical, and piratical historical fantasy remix that marries the story of The Little Mermaid with the life and times of infamous lady pirate Mary Read.
Don't call this mermaid "little"—call her "captain," unless you want to walk the plank.
Mary is in love with the so-called prince of Charles Town, except he doesn't love her back. Which is inconvenient. Since she's a mermaid, being brokenhearted means she'll—poof!—turn into sea-foam.
But instead, Mary finds herself pulled out of the sea and up onto a pirate ship. To survive, she joins them. But Mary isn't willing to just sing the yo-ho-hos. She wants the pirate life, all of it, and she's ready to make a splash . . . by becoming captain. But when Blackbeard dies suddenly, Mary has a chance to become so much more: Pirate King . . . or Queen. She won't let anyone stop her—not Blackbeard's cute son, not her best friend from back under the sea who's having a bit too much fun with his new legs, and certainly not everyone who says she can't be a pirate just because she's a girl.
She may not be the best man for the job, but she'll definitely prove that she's worth her salt.
And don’t miss the Prime Video streaming hit My Lady Jane!

Story
In this exuberant retelling of Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice, Lydia Bennet puts pen to paper to relate the real events and aftermath of the classic story. Some facts are well known: Mrs. Bennet suffers from her nerves, Mr. Bennet suffers from Mrs. Bennet, and all five daughters suffer from an estate that is entailed only to male heirs. But Lydia also suffers from entirely different concerns: her best-loved sister Kitty is really a barn cat; Wickham is every bit as wicked as the world believes him to be, but what else would one expect from a demon?

Story
The Lady knows the stories: how her eyes induce madness in men. The Lady knows she will be wed to the Scottish brute, who does not leave his warrior ways behind when he comes to the marriage bed. The Lady knows his hostile, suspicious court will be a game of strategy, requiring all of her wiles and hidden witchcraft to survive. But the Lady does not know her husband has occult secrets of his own. She does not know that prophecy girds him like armor. She does not know that her magic is greater and more dangerous, and that it will threaten the order of the world.

Story
It’s 1857, and anxious debutante Beth has just one season to snag a wealthy husband, or she and her mother will be out on the street. But playing the blushing ingenue makes Beth’s skin crawl and she’d rather be anywhere but here. Gwen, on the other hand, is on her fourth season and counting, with absolutely no intention of finding a husband, possibly ever. She figures she has plenty of security as the only daughter of a rakish earl, from whom she’s gotten all her flair, fun, and less-than-proper party games.

Obsessed!
Might be my favorite of the six Jane and Mary books. It is sooooo good! As always, it's very fun, very clever, sweet, and romantic. A pleasure to listen to from beginning to end, and the narration is fantastic. I'm 37 but this book I think would be enjoyable for any age. Its nice and clean so appropriate for younger audiences, but older listeners will better appreciate all the allusions and references that make this book so fun. Seriously can't say enough good things about this book - keep them coming!

Little Mermaid Sets Sail to Rule the Pirate World
A fun listen. I always enjoy the narrators for this series, as they do a fantastic job with the many voices. Would recommend this book to those who enjoy following an adventure that plays off the story of The Little Mermaid. Per the usual, this is a PG romance and is safe for listening at work.

Meh
Maybe it’s me, but these particular reimaginings just aren’t what they used to be. They aren’t as clever as I remember My Plain Jane & My Lady Jane being. There don’t seem to be as many pop-culture references, & when there are, they’re just a bit lackluster. There are still 2 from this author-trio that I need to read: My Calamity Jane (I’ve attempted 2 or 3 times now, but have struggled to get into) & My Imaginary Mary. I suppose I’ll set my standards a little lower & hope for a pleasant surprise. I do still believe these series are remarkably well done & can’t even begin to imagine the research that is bound to go into them, given the historical aspect(s). I do hope this author-trio will continue to publish such stories & I will likely continue to read them .. but I’ll probably continue to read them with hope that the next is better than the last.
