Left me Impatiently Waiting for Book 3

If you enjoyed book one, you’ll definitely want to listen to this book. We learn more about some of our favorite characters and get to watch as relationships develop. Now I am impatiently waiting for Perses to be finished and for the audio copy to be recorded!

Nemesis picks up about 10 months after Ares ended with Terra mourning Gryffin’s loss. We learn right away that Gryffin escapes his captors but he is seriously injured so he sets coordinates for Altar (sp?) and passes out from his injuries. Once he arrives on Altar, everyone is shocked to learn that he is alive but they are also not sure if he can be trusted because they don’t know if he is in control of himself.

The Nomad, Hunters, former Foundation and even some Rouge all work and train together to prepare for taking on the Foundation and stopping the Scientist. We also get to learn a lot more about the Scientist and why he started on his project of modifying children to create cyborgs. He’s a fickle (and immature) little bastard if you ask me.

[SLIGHT SPOILER] This is a spoiler but it happens in the first few minutes of the book but you can skip over it if you don’t want to know. We learn that Bray and Terra developed a friendship that slowly lead to a relationship. When I first read this, I really didn’t like it but I guess I couldn’t expect Terra to stay single forever. And that bond they created during the months Gryffin was thought to be dead was important later in the story so I came to understand why K.A. wrote it that way. I’d really like to see Bray get a woman of his own because I think he deserves to be happy with someone. I’m just a loyal Gryffin fan so of course I want Terra and Gryffin together.

As you already know from book one, Keith Michaelson is an excellent narrator for this story. His Gryffin character has to be one of my favorites. I actually spoke with K.A. Finn about this and she said that Keith was her first and only choice for this series and I have to agree with her. His performance is the main reason I prefer audiobooks over traditional books.

Kick-Ass Cyborg, Touch of Romance, Lots of Action!

This is an audible book I requested and the review is voluntary.
I loved this series! I read them out of order and don't suggest it. I read book 3 and then went back and read 1 and 2. Now I have to re-read book 3 again so it will make more sense! Read in order! You will get more pleasure out of them. This is such an intense and action packed series with a kick-ass cyborg, a touch of romance, great characters that you can't help but hate or love, wonderful plot, and so much action that it is never dull. I love this series!!! Going to check to see if there is book 4!
The narrator is tops! Voices, emotions, keeping the flow going, all CHECK!!! Wonderful job!

Excellent second book

The writing is much better in this book than the first. The pace is steady and as in the first book, the narration is excellent. In this part there are more emotional battles fought than physical ones when all the secrets begin to be revealed. I look forward to the next book.

Excellent Continuation

This was a great listen. I do think that it's important to have read (or listened to) the first book in the series (Ares).

I would consider this book to be primarily a sci-fi suspense, but as with the first book, there is a little something for everyone. Action, adventure, romance, cyborgs, pirates and mystery all play a large role.

While the narrator is excellent, I do think that this book would benefit from an additional female narrator.

What a great continuation!!

I found book two in this series, Nemesis, to be every bit as captivating as book one. As more history of the characters is explored it became easier to understand the underlying hostilities that prevailed. The on and off love story kept me enthralled and the characters I had already disliked gave me even more reason to abhor them. I was thrilled when Terra finally quit fighting herself and realized her love for Gryffin was true and unavoidable. In true super hero fashion Gryffin fought his own demons as he rose above the unbelievable cruelties he had experienced his entire life.

My heart still breaks for all the pain and suffering Gryffin has already endured and yet it is clear there is more to come in the next novel.

I anxiously await to see what unfolds in upcoming novels for all the characters.

As before, I found the narration impeccable and again brought the excellently written book to life.

I received this audiobook without charge in exchange for an honest and fair review. My review is as honest as it could be and fairness is not a needed component in my opinion.

An amazing space opera that has me worried& loving

Where does Nemesis rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Among the top 5 for audio work by narrator and story by author. Great combination between the two!

What does Keith Michaelson bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Okay, I loved Keith's voice in the first book and just him reading the title page made me smile and shiver. Yes, I love his voice still. I'm amazed at how great Keith voices all the different characters with different personalities and intonation. All like different people present with a large ray of emotions from each person. Keith feels to fit the characters perfectly, as if he's living through their lives. I could listen to this story over and over just to hear him!

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

We get several POV's in the book. But there is NO confusion at all! Each person is off in a different part of the world seeing a different piece of the puzzle for us. This is a full cast to juggle, and K.A. Finn does an amazing job doing so. Each person is individual and influential on others, good or bad that's your choice. I love the strong personalities we get from all the characters. When they interact, oh some interactions make me smile because they clash but are sarcastic with each other. I have to say, Milla is my favorite here. She shines as the best doctor and strong mind. She has NO problem telling Gryffin as it is (not many do this, and live). She has a sense of humor that is truth at the same time. Her sarcasm with her patient, Gryffin, and his stubborn personality is perfect.

Oh poor Gryffin. Nothing ever works to the good for him. But he grows so much in this book. His world becomes more than just one step at a time. He's finding good things and people in the world, but with his circumstances...it just makes it harder. Gryffin is turning a new corner in his life, but it's new territory and going to make life as he knows it more complicated to maneuver through.

We meet a few new characters. Of these the one that sticks out for me is Garvan. He's a prison inmate that is freed. I'll leave it at that. lol. But he has grown on me. Though at times I'm curious about him...

K.A. Finn had some huge shoes to fill as I loved the first story. And... SHE HAS FILLED THEM! Wow. It's a challenge to write the first book with an incredible mix to the story and then to follow up with a sequel at the same power. AMAZING! Well done K.A. Finn!

We start in the here and now of the characters, which is 10 months after Ares ended. We do get a small refresher of the battle fought, but it's quick and full of information about where everyone is now as they live through the moment. No rehashing for us. Moving on strong with the next book, we go.

We learn the secret to why the Foundation is backing the cyborg program. It's a secret, but we get to see things from that side. It's got something to do with Earth...

I think this is a wonderful space opera that all can listen to. There is personal relationships and struggles that appeal to the small need of romances but the story is much more than that. Their lives are driven by the world and actions of others, everyone's wants are affected and they have to fight for it all, and their own lives.

This book looks long in hours, but it's so short in listening. I never felt like I was ready for it to end. On the contrary, I was checking to see if there would be enough time to get to all I wanted to hear!

I'm drawn into all the characters lives, getting a great blend of worry for the characters on a personal level - will they live through the terrible events they find themselves in, will they finally admit their feelings, will the Foundation destroy it all with their terrible plans or will they destroy themselves with their attempts to save themselves. All realms of emotions here combine with adventure and danger.

I found I loved this story just as much as the first. Well written to keep us interested in all the characters as we worry over the bigger troubles too.

KA Finn and Keith Michaelson continue to produce top hits in the Audible book realm. Nemesis is part of a series that I found fun to listen to. Fast pace, action, suspense, sci-fi, that draws you in for more.

What did you love best about Nemesis?

A very entertaining, interesting and engaging story. Full of action, suspense, romance, mystery, betrayal, secrets, emotions, revenge and so much more

What was one of the most memorable moments of Nemesis?

Gryffin has gone through hell and continues to go through it. You want to see this guy catch a break

Which character – as performed by Keith Michaelson – was your favorite?

Gryffin! His rough growl is superb

An Epic Space Opera, Well Worth The Wait.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Wow, where would I start. Yes, I'd highly recommend this book and the first book to a friend and I have. It has much to love for those that like's SciFi but doesn't want a diagram of how the ships work or portals or drives operate. It books you into space, it introduces you to many people, and the books length allows time to get to know these people or wish to know more about some of the secondary characters.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Nemesis?

Poor Gryffin has gone through hell and continues to go through it. You want to see this guy catch a break. Even Terra caused him grief before she forgave him for events that took place at the end of Ares. Those events are explained here but I would really suggest reading Ares to get caught up on all the lore with the Nomad and the Foundation, not to mention certain, demented, creepy scientist.

What about Keith Michaelson’s performance did you like?

My favorite type of narration is two person when a man reads the male parts and the female reads the parts of the woman. Those are the books I usually look for, however, out of the 120 odd audible books I have, Keith Michaelson is my favorite narrator. I dub thee Keith, Man of a Thousand Voices. I usually listen to these at night in bed, lights off. Keep in mind this book has a lot of characters and I know everyone of them by voice without a mention of who it is. Keith is that good! Gryffin's voice is so deep and rich and always angry. But Gryffin, has a lot to be angry about.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No, this is a book I wanted to stretch out and savor. I didn't want it to end to fast. However I'd lay down at night to listen to it for 45 minutes and it would turn into three hours. It was very hard to put it down. I would tell myself, stop listening so you have something to look forward to tomorrow night.

Any additional comments?

What's not to love. It has Romance, its not filled with filler sex scenes. No its actually filled with story and I love that myself. It has Cyborgs, demented scientist, Foundation battles and so on. I really am enjoying this series. I really appreciate the length of the book. KA Finn is something that likes to write and want these characters to be as rich and as detailed as possible and it shows. Heck yes its worth the money, worth the credit. Can't wait for the next one.

What did you love best about Nemesis?

After reading the first book in the series, I was so happy to have more Griffin, Nomads, & New Foundation. I loved all the development of the characters' relationship while not skimping on action. In addition to the characters from the first book, there were several new characters introduced that gave the story an added level of instensity. Saber is always a hoot & I loved how Mila just tells it like it is. :)

What did you like best about this story?

Griffin, Griffin, Griffin. I loved how his character developed into a more human cyborg (oxymoron phrase?). I ached for him, but was delighted in his growth into a man, friend, relative. His relationship with Terra, at first was awkward, but I was pleased to see it develop as a normal relationship in spite of the machinery, issues, etc.

Which character – as performed by Keith Michaelson – was your favorite?

Griffin! His rough growl is superb.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Toward the end of the story, there's a plot twist that I figured out was coming, but it still gave me a "WTF!" moment in my car.

Looking forward to the next installment. It will go near the top of my TBR mountain.
