About this listen
It was 2065 and the world was finally at peace, countries flourished, genetic scientific breakthroughs were happening daily; mankind was finally at the cusp of stem cell enhancement research. All worldly governments had come to terms and had made peace, or so everyone had thought....
There was devastation as nuclear war broke out. Cities destroyed; entire countries blow apart. The world population was at its lowest. Mankind's only hope for survival was to rebuild under a new government order, and so from the rubble and ashes, the walled city of Meridiana was born. Surviving scientists and government officials were able to piece together a genetic compound within the city that kept those inside thriving, all while continuing their studies in genetic modifications.
The head scientist of genetic cell research Professor Dorian put together a research team in charge of stem cell regeneration to create the ultimate super beings. He was allowed a group of 50 test subjects to be injected with enhanced cells...50 children. The experiment quickly fell apart of subjects started to die off...the professor threw himself into his work with new findings that proved the experiment would be successful. He was given one last chance and was offered 20 more children. Finally, there was success, three children had survived. First child Hokura, second child Amara, and the third child Adam. All three created with perfect genetic structure, the ultimate perfection of humanity created to be the peacekeepers of the city.
Meanwhile, rebels started breaching the city walls bringing in mass amounts of old-world weapons to aid in the civilian uprising and free the people of Meridiana of their harsh government laws and curfews.
It's up to the peacekeepers to protect and defend the city along with the compound, but there's far more at stake when the truth is revealed and everything they've been told their entire lives has been a lie.
A series of love, lies, and deceit.

Story
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

Jazz Bashara is a criminal. Well, sort of. Life on Artemis, the first and only city on the moon, is tough if you're not a rich tourist or an eccentric billionaire. So smuggling in the occasional harmless bit of contraband barely counts, right? Not when you've got debts to pay and your job as a porter barely covers the rent. Everything changes when Jazz sees the chance to commit the perfect crime, with a reward too lucrative to turn down.

LOVE this book/ series Narrator made it SO good!
I cannot say enough about this book/ series. I read it all in print first, so I was thrilled when the audio came out. The characters were all so unique, intriguing and easy to bond with. It takes place in the future, the world ruined by war. Only small pockets of civilization still survive. Life is hard, but the city of Meridiana has a team of government officials and brilliant scientists that have created a "safe" place to live. They have used stem cells to prolong life and create the ultimate human, Three of them. They are used as a peacekeeping force to watch over the city, kept away from the masses and are almost unstoppable. There is an uprising on the horizon with the citizens and some outside rebels. But things take a turn when the peacekeepers come face to face with the rebels. Information is shared and history is forever changed. I loved Hokura, Amara, Adam, James and even Dorian who is a bit misguided, but still lovable. They story moved along at a nice pace, keeping you engaged. The descriptions were done so well, I was able to visualize everything as it was happening. Even after having already knowing the story, I listened to this in record time. The Narrator Will Carter did an OUTSTANDING job! He was the perfect voice to bring this world and the characters alive. He had perfect distinction between the characters. Did both male and female voices so well. I really can't think of another narrator that could of done a better job. His deep voice was exactly what I envisioned for Dorian, truly was ideal for this book. He is now in my top 10 favorite narrators. I look forward to hearing him voice the remainder of this series and any other books he might do.

Sci-fi Romance indeed.
This story gave me Divergent + Judge Dredd vibes throughout, then somehow added a twist of innocence too. A good Indie book for sure! I'd recommend this title to anyone.

Fantastic book !
I would recommend this book to the entire world! I couldn’t stop listening to it! At one point I left home and forgot my head phone but kept listening to it anyway and so did everyone at the grocery store! So I was telling them to get the book and after all it’s TEAM NIKKI all the way so why not!
The voice on the book drove the book to a whole new level! I felt like a time traveler!
