About this listen

Jess and Mason begin their search for Faison and find themselves in a world where everything is turned upside down. Jess' relationship with Lucifer takes a turn she didn't expect, which prompts God to give her a mission she's not sure she'll survive.

This series is intended for a mature audience. Recommended for ages 17 and older due to sexual situations and adult themes.

If I were to use the movie rating system, I would rate this series an R.

This gets more interesting

Listened to the book again and I still rate this as PG-13 for the descriptiveness of violence and sex, which I consider to be relatively tame.
Again, this book and series has an interesting and creative storyline that isn’t overly romantic or gory. This is an author to watch and I VERY MUCH hope she partners with a good editor for future efforts. Still not impressed with Jess’ lack of Emotional Maturity and Intelligence. There’s a lot of Oh Jess You’re So Wonderful, but very little of Jess appreciating her fellow Vessels.

-Spoilers- In book 3, Jess and Mason travel through the Tear to retrieve Faison from alternate reality Earth. Mason learns what happened to Watchers and humans in a reality where he was killed in the heavenly wars and had no direct impact on Earth. This goes a long way to healing his scar. The bonus in their travel is finding the fourth vessel, Leah and her Guardian who were sent to alternate Earth by mistake. I think West had some fun creating her alternate Earth versions of Malcolm and Brand.
On return to Prime Earth, Jess and Mason finally consummate their love; Leah is settled with MamaLynn; the group tracks down Vessels 5 Rafe and 6 Zach; Jess tries to get Lucifer to ask God’s forgiveness and accept his repaired crown.
Pressley does a very decent job of narration.

Loved it!

This one broke my heart with the amount pain and anguish that Jess has to go through along with her family and friends. The loss of a valued team member brings reality crashing in hard. Well written and gripping.

Porn

To much unnecessary sex in detail (I'm thankful I have a skip ahead feature)in this book #3. I'm hoping they are to busy in #4 for more unnecessary sex.

Wow!

I would have given this book all round five stars but the “lovey-Dovey” way the Jessica and Mason are together makes me roll my eyes a little. It’s a bit much, and punching holes in walls because your jealous is never ever sexy. So I took a star off for that. But I really loved the story part of the book. The last scene with Jess and Lucifer had me crying! I’m very excited to dive into the next book. Very well done.

I absolutely love S.J West! I do wish that all books were available on audio, but that didn't hold me back.

Wow!!! Where did this come from?

I don't remember buying or downloading this book but it is amazing. I listen to book 1 and fell in love with the characters and story right away. Of course it ends on a cliff-hanger but luckily and without any explanation books 2,3 & 4 are also in my library. I listened to them for 4 days straight while driving, sitting in my desk and lying around the house instead of watching TV. I'm hooked and my next steps are to find more books from this author. I've already heard there are more books in this series and I'll buy them tonight. Thank you SJ West.

Better Than Book 2 - Still A Great Story

As I've stated before in my reviews of the first two books in The Watcher Chronicles series, the story is great! S. J. West is a very good writer. However, this series is, in my opinion, slanted heavily toward readers/listeners of Romance Novels - and that is NOT me. I am simply tolerating, barely tolerating, the romance portions of the story because I really love the main focus of the story!!

Jess and her fellow vessels are moving toward finding all of each other. They are up to 6 and only need one more. They are also finding their crowns and talismans and discovering their powers. Lucifer and his henchmen are moving forward with their plan - being a bit more focused than the good guys. The main story is gripping enough, There is a world ending possibility looming over the entire planet, if not all of the alternate universes - and that is a compelling listen/read. BUT we have the romance.

It's not just a bit of caring for each other, it's just not the falling in love, it's not the personal scars that need to be healed through their love for each other. It's that the main "heroes" have a bigger priority in getting their brains screwed out than in saving the world. Seriously. Jess has this incredible sword of an archangel! She has somewhat learned how to fly! And she may have even more amazing powers - but we don't know. Why??? Because instead of training to fight the devil and his henchmen, she's screwing Mason every chance she gets. Maybe that's how she will defeat Lucifer - by screwing him to death!!! If we could just PLEASE cut back on the romance part a few hundred degrees and get a bit of normalcy into the story, it would be great.

However, as I have said before, the story is great and it's even greater if you love Romance Novels!! Don't skip this series just because I am not a romance novel fan. I am going to finish the series because I need to know how it ends. I can tolerate the romantic interludes and disruptions to focus on the main story itself! Listen to the books and decide for yourself - the story is GREAT!!!

Doppelgängers are weird

This book took us through the tear, an alternate earth with doppelgängers, to retrieve Faison but they brought more than what they expected back. Jess and Mason relationship blooms more which was nice to see. Cant wait to see what happens next.
