Publisher's summary

Free-spirited computer programmer Kent McMann loves life, candy, his family, and his job designing apps. With his go-getter attitude, he succeeds at anything he tackles. So having a child with a surrogate mother is the perfect start to the family he's always wanted, even though he still hasn't found his longed-for Mr. Right.

Then, into Kent's life comes triathlete Dex Lochland, who also happens to be a successful app designer, and the two of them hit it off. They soon begin a relationship full of fun, sex, laughter, and love. But when Kent learns his attempt at fatherhood with the surrogate has succeeded, Dex is shocked. Unknown to Kent until that moment, Dex has never wanted children.

Kent's decision before he met Dex might cost him the man of his dreams.

Super Sweet & Smoking Hot

Any additional comments?

Kent McMann loves his life, but has always wanted a family. With no man on the horizon he decides it's time to start with or without a partner. His friend, who loves being pregnant, has generously offered to be his surrogate, so Kent goes full steam ahead and drops off his specimen to get started on his family.

Of course, this is when he meets the perfect guy for him. Dex Lochland is a triathlete who also happens to be a successful app designer, and the two hit it off having much in common. Dex loves how Kent can make him laugh, Kent loves how Dex is everything and more than he ever wanted.

As they quickly begin a relationship both men are finding their perfect counterbalance, and having hot and passionate sex along the way, when Kent learns the pregnancy took and he's going to be a father. When he tells Dex, he finds out Dex has never even thought about kids, let alone wanted them.

So the two agree to out the brakes on what's happening between them and keep their relationship on a more friends-with-benefits level. However, neither can seem to help falling in love with the other.

This caught me at the perfect time when I was looking for something non-complicated and easy to listen to with some super sexy times. I loved Michael Pauley's narration, especially his enthusiasm in the conversation portions and sexy times. I loved the super sweetness of the story, the whole kittens and rainbows angst-free non-drama, and, most of all, the ridiculously hot, smoking sex.

I can totally see this becoming a comfort listen for me.

Very sweet

Kent is a rich guy who wants a family and he’s not willing to continue to wait around for “Mr. Right” to have it. He decides to work with a surrogate and gets to work building his family. He’s happy to meet Dex one night through a work function and doesn’t put two and two together when they begin to date.

Dex is a professional iron man tri-athlete who works out 6 hours a day. He likes having fun and really thinks he and Kent click. A family never even crossed his mind.

When Kent finds out his surrogate is pregnant he’s both amazingly happy and totally depressed because Dex has expressed no desire for kids and isn’t in favor of them. Even though he and Dex are fast becoming really important to the other, he’s not sure something like kids won’t blow them apart.

**

This was a unique romance in that the two MCs fall for one another fairly quickly and with little fan-fair. The tension comes from the “relationship” and what it means when a child gets thrown into the mix.

Dex was kind of a jerk at times and Kent was kind of a doormat at times, but in general they both did a fair job of simply being two guys with very different interests in life.

When Dex finally does make his conversion to being pro-family, it’s fairly believable and authentic.

Audio

Michael Pauley does a great job with this. So much of this story is conversations between Dex and Kent and Michael does a great job of giving each of those an authentic feel and adding in the emotion needed to make those conversations convincing and interesting.

He even managed to make me not cringe at all the “honeys”, “baby’s” and “loves”. ;)

I enjoyed this for what it was: a light, easy going, low angst story about two guys (who lead VERY easy lives) finding love and building a family together.

a very well rounded love story.

I thought it was just beautiful. I like that the characters were unsure, sometimes of each other, sometimes of the situation. I appreciated the offer working toward making the characters well rounded. I just enjoyed it!
