About this listen

"Twenty-somethings once faithfully attended church. What made them stop? While most said they still believe that the Bible is God's Word, they also said that the idea that the earth is millions of years old was one thing that caused them to doubt the Bible? The crumbling foundation of the church takes a devastating toll on future generations. Therefore, churches must reclaim the historical truth found in Genesis and apply the Bible's authority to every area of life." (Ken Ham, president, Answers in Genesis)

As the modern church struggles to find a place of relevancy for a new generation that already has massive demands on its time and attention, more and more young people raised in the church are leaving it - failing to find the answers to their questions of faith and life, beset with doubts raised by issues that the church chooses not to address. Opting to skirt the controversy of Genesis as literal history, the biblical authority of the Holy Word is called into question and reduced to a collection of mere stories. More popularly considered an issue for schools or in the public realm, the conflicting views on the age of the earth also remain a pivotal issue within the church - as it has for over two centuries.

Was the Creation week literally six days? Does science really point to an old earth? Does the issue really matter for Christians? Should this issue even be discussed within the church?

Join authors Dr. Jason Lisle and Tim Chaffey as they put forth a case against an old-earth interpretation of Scripture. A comprehensive biblical, theological, and scientific critique of old-earth creationism, the book presents its compelling testimony in layman's terms to create a powerful debate that leads to unquestionable truth.

Young Earth Evidence

I understand that Religious people might possibly change their attitudes based on a 'prove the Science with the Bible' philosophy, but you will never prove to Atheists or Agnostics that science is direct proof from the Bible. You need to prove the Bible with science for those people, who are becoming the majority in the USA because of the fallacy of 'separation of Church and State' based on the state supporting Atheistic philosophy, because it doesn't use religion to believe it. Schools now teach secular or 'Atheist' science to keep religion out of the schools. Freedom of Religion should allow students to pray when they want, outside of disrupting classes. They can also do book reports on the Bible anytime that they want to, and if asked to give a speech, their speech is of their choosing and can be based on their religion and/or the Bible. Atheists have their own belief or 'religion'. They just believe that they are right and we are wrong, no other argument besides fake science to prove their position. There are Zero missing links. We will never see stars with any telescope outside of our 'galaxy', and all other galaxies and stars...are part of the Milky Way galaxy. Otherwise, the Earth would be much closer to the center and the outer edge of the galaxy.

Science, logic, and theology

I especially enjoyed this book. Jason Lisle is one of my favorite authors. Lisle and Chaffee present the best arguments for each view and the weakness and inconsistency in the old earth view. Jason Lisle is very good at explaining the fundamentals of logic and logical fallacies and applying them to this issue. Chafee’s personal testimony adds a real life application of the issue. The reader does a good job.

Great Reference

Well written and easy to understand even for the average layman like me. If you are not a Christian and believe in evolution and that the earth is billions of years old, then this book will probably not convince you otherwise. But if you are a Christian who already believes that the earth was created in six ordinary 24 hour days then this book will help build your confidence in the plain words of scripture. It will also give you a lot of information that will help you answer questions you might encounter in discussions with friends and relatives who may be Christians but may not agree with your stand on creation. Well worth a credit!

Teachers and students

I doubt many college undergrads have heard a rational presentation of these issues.
Solid presentation of this hot- button topic.
Collegial rather than "gotcha" tone and recommended for college prep or college private educations. well balanced.

Basic Brief Defense of Young Earth Creation

Presents the mainline opinion of the Creation Movement.

Its critique of the Intelligent Design Movement (IDM) is valid. IDM does not deal with Noah's flood, and does not engage in age of the earth evidences. But it discounts any possible contribution IDM may have to make to supporters of Scientific Creationism. Some of the best refutation of evolutionary science is being done by such men as Dr. Stephen C. Meyer. His book Signature in the Cell has caused waves within the Evolution institutions. They no longer think DNA is a strong point of their evolutionary position. Yet this book is not listed in the recommended reading section.

It also is disappointing to report that Dr. Walt Brown's book In the Beginning is not listed in the further reading section. Brown does not support the notion of "Rapid Plate Tectonics," favoring instead the much more solid "Hydroplate Theory." His book also presents a strong explanation for accelerated radioactive decay at the time of the flood. See his chapter "The Origin of the Earth's Radioactiviry." And his explanation does not resort to Deus ex machina intervention to accomplish. Walt Brown is a strong proponent of Noah's flood and because of small disputes with the mainstream of the Creation Movement his work is under publicised by those in the mainstream and is in effect censured.

Read Stephen Meyer and read Walt Brown if you desire a well-rounded knowledge of the state of the art in the Creation Movement.

Presup Good Way To Argue

Gave me a lot to think about. Big bang has some problems. The spiral galaxy issue was new to me.

Amazing book. I strongly recommend it.

This is the most thorough and well-written book I know of regarding the debate over the age of the Earth. It is a must-read for everyone, especially Christians, in my humble opinion.

Absolutely amazing and spot on!

The focus of the book was more on the interpretation of Scripture than on the scientific facts that indicate the earth is young. Many of the ideas were not new to me but enough were that it was very helpful. And while the book did not drudge through all of the scientific data that indicate the earth is young, it gave enough to bolster its case. I cannot speak highly enough of this work and it definitely reminded me of why I am a Young Earth Creationist! The damage that has been done to the Church and to society by those who attempt to compromise with biased "scientists" that many times make their initial assumptions to rule out a young earth cannot be over stated.

Crazy crazy crazy

Talk about manipulation of the text to suit your desire. Perhaps he did not read the introduction before Genesis. Seriously scary!
