Publisher's summary

Search or be destroyed. Hunting the Wild Hunt. Death is the welcome to Grestal.

Marcus Bola and his friends barely made it through their last self-imposed mission. He found and rescued his estranged son from the clutches of a Seelie drug cartel bent on taking over Columbus, but success means that they’ve proven their ability to get the job done.

Now tasked with retrieving the Huntsman's Mantle in hopes of giving the Wild Hunt new life, Marcus and his friends leave the High Table for Grestal, the birth place of nightmares. A double-shot of danger is added to this already-volatile cocktail as Marcus learns more about the world and his friends, while enemies start hunting them in return.

Luckily, he’s pretty handy with his magic - and a shaker.

The urban fantasy takes a ride into the wild

A great second entry into this series. The last book, Galaxy, was solidly Urban Fantasy. Old-fashioned Huntsman takes the team into a "Journey to the Center of the Earth" kind of adventure in search of a powerful artifact called the Huntsman's Mantle. We find big magic, big creatures, entire civilizations existing inside a magical realm called Grestel that survives modern day, by consuming people who venture into it. Though Grestel is the least of their worries with people who would see them fail at every turn. A bit of a love triangle or poly relationship seems to be developing surrounding Marcus and the ties to Galaxy. I'm looking forward to the next adventure!

Just a little sniggle.

So all in all: good. good writing, nice growth, interesting story.

I liked the characters, they were memorable, fun and relatable. The plot was a good one, it sent our heroes out to do something MEANINGFUL,and it made sense. Growth was good as well. they grew as characters and their relationships with each other, that feels like a point that doesn't get explored enough. Wonderful job.

The reason for 4/5 is kind of petty.

The only thing thatis annoying is the constant imput of extreme description with. "It hurt more than anything he'd ever felt in his life" and "the worst pain imaginable", or some things simular keep cropping up. Every time the author wants to heighten a scene it seems like he give these generic description more often than not. The only thing that I want the author to tweak in the next book is his descriptive language.

Other than that, this is a solid piece of work.

I only have two real problesm with these books

and that problem is that they are rushing all over the place no real time to relax to get stronger and no armor at all. I mean really didn't go to the dwarves and get some tactical armor or something like that c'mon
