About this listen

A touch of nostalgia, good friends, and murder.

When a former colleague is implicated in his neighbor’s demise, Sheridan Hendley returns to Cold Creek to prove his innocence. Annoying as Max can be, she can’t imagine the quirky professor is capable of murder. Unfortunately, not everyone shares her opinion. Of course, it doesn’t help that Max threatened his neighbor in a public place soon before the man was murdered. Or that the victim’s drug shipments had a habit of turning up on Max’s doorstep. Only as Sheridan asks more questions, she again puts a target on her back. Twists and complications make this an enjoyable listen.

Delightful, much more than meets the ear!

When Sheridan’s former colleague is implicated in the death of his neighbor, her efforts to clear him not only draw the ire of her new boss and coworkers, they put her in danger! Clearly, someone’s playing for keeps! “Old Friends and New, Another Murder” is a well written, engrossing, twisty, turny cozy mystery that really held my attention! The plot is not only timely but timeless and thought provoking! The characters, some pure and innocent, some beautifully flawed, yet not without the hope of redemption, some truly irredeemable; yet all completely human and completely believable! No spoilers! It’s not for me to say who’s who! This story, THIS story really made me think. This is not your average cozy mystery. There is a lot more here than meets the ear and I really listened! Five stars! I loved it! I really loved it!

good listen

Poor Max. I empathized with him and would have been a basket case if I were in his shoes. So many shady people!!! I love that this series highlights rescue dogs and hope it jogs anyone's mind when they think of their next furry friend. I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this and am giving an honest review. The narrator did a good job bringing it to life.

Love this series!

This is the third book in the Sheridan Hendley Mystery series. This is such a wonderful series for both cozy mystery & animal lovers alike! I can't wait to start listening to the next book in this series. The narrator, Jeanne Pilgrim Mayo, has done a wonderful job bringing the characters to life. You can't go wrong with any book written by Christa Nardi or narrated by Jeanne Pilgrim Mayo. I realized I had all the audiobooks in this series except this one, so after purchasing I listened to the entire series of 7 in order & absolutely loved them all. I only hope there will be more books coming!

Great mystery series

Old Friends and New, Another Murder is the 3rd in the Sheridan Hendley mystery series by Christa Nardi. The title says it all. Sheridan becomes embroiled in a murder mystery that includes her college, and her friends. She tries to stay out of it, but someone is targeting her! In the end, the murder and crimes are solved and everything is set to rights. The characters and relationships are continuing to grow in this 3rd book and that’s wonderful! The narration by Jeanne Pilgrim Mayo is terrific. She brings the characters to life with unique voices. Highly recommend this book and the series.

do neighbors make good suspects?

This is the first in the series that I have read, actually listened to the story, even though it’s the third book in the series.

Professor Sheridan Hendley going back to Cold Creek to help her colleague, Max, who is caught up in the murder investigation of his neighbor. Max did have a public argument with the victim but Sheridan is convinced that Max would never murder anyone. Max is annoying and over the top in so many ways. Max keeps droning on the fact, in his eyes, that Detective Brett McMann, Sheridan’s husband is out to get him. I find it amazing that Sheridan puts up with him.

Sheridan is an adjunct professor (field of psychology) at the local college. While she is there teaching she runs into a new professor. Apparently, he was hired after the recent death of a professor that was Max’s neighbor. This new teacher is trying to find out a lot of information on Sheridan. We’re not sure what his end game is during the major portion of the book.

Sheridan & Brett work well together and share information. While Sheridan is on campus, she is sideswiped by someone on a skateboard or scooter. This places her into a kneel scooter for a major portion of the story.

I liked the family dynamics of Brett, Sheridan, and Maddie, Brett’s daughter. I also liked the interactions within the family concerning Maddie’s well-being. Maddie is having a hard time wanting to spend time with her mother after her mother runs off with her new husband.

Another aspect is the humanity the author shows by having Maddie & Sheridan volunteering at the local animal shelter.

Overall, this was a good mystery with plenty of local charm.

Old Friends

Things are really going to be shaken up in Cold Creek when somebody finds a dead body. There’s suspicion of drugs being involved and there are people who had interactions with the man who died who are being investigated. I really enjoy Sheridan and her family. There are fun, quirky characters throughout the story and lots of humor. And lots of dogs. I listened to the audiobook and enjoyed the narration by Jeanne Pilgrim Mayo.

Well done!

college, college-town, detective, amateur-sleuth, law-enforcement, drugs-issues, murder, murder-investigation, family-dynamics, family, friendship, cozy-mystery*****

Sheridan is a temporary adjunct professor of psychology in a small local college, her husband is a local police detective, and there is a teenaged daughter. There's also a local animal shelter that plays a big part in everyone's lives. Sheridan has been involved in sleuthing a murder in the past and a lot of people are aware of this, so when husband is called out on the murder of a local businessman in the park the madness begins. There's the paranoid/excitable scientist friend who makes life interesting, questions about the dead man's business, and it seems that there is a drug supplier who is peddling designer drugs in the local schools as well as the college. Well done!
Voice artist Jeanne Pilgrim Mayo is excellent at making the differences in characters clear as well as adding more reality to the story itself.

Helping A Colleague From Her Past

This is the third book in the Sheridan Hendley Mystery series, and it was entertaining. A colleague from Sheridan's past has been accused of murder. Sheridan becomes involved in the investigation of the crime. What I enjoy the most in this series is the way that Christa Nardi has written the characters. The interpersonal relationship between Sheridan, her husband, and her stepdaughter along with the quirky characters, that work at the Pets and Paws dog shelter, make this an enjoyable story to hear. I recommend this series to others. Jeanne Pilgrim Mayo's narration is awesome, and she adds to the story's entertainment. I was given a free copy of the audiobook and I have voluntarily left this review.
