Publisher's summary

I was supposed to be partying with a bunch of celebrities in paradise this week, okay?

But then, I made one teeny, tiny error in judgement before leaving New York, and suddenly, the paparazzi expected me to give a command performance as “the other man” in their straight celebrity “outing” of the week.

Um, no, precious. So much no.

Instead, I did what any self-respecting, secret-keeping man would do in that situation: I cancelled my trip and fled New York to hide out in the last place anyone would look for me - a weird, little Florida island where nothing exciting ever happened.

Or, at least, it didn’t...until I arrived.

Now, I find myself shacked up with my fake boyfriend Beale Goodman, Whispering Key’s most adorable, most enormous, most virginal cinnamon roll - a guy who rescues feral cats, believes in soulmates, and talks about happiness like it’s free for the taking.

A guy who nearly convinces me, with every smile and kiss, that it is.

Stranger still? I find myself falling for the people on the island. Fitting in, instead of sticking out. Making, you know, friends. And for the first time ever, I think I’ve found something I want to run to, rather than from....

As long as I can keep my secrets from catching up with me.

Sweet retreat!

This book is super sweet, with all sorts of ups and downs. Beale is a returning character from the previous book in the series. He just gets better and better. Toby is just enough sassy and snarky to be fun without being an annoying character. May Archer does a good job at creating characters and storylines that keep you interested from beginning to end. Michael Dean is his spectacular self- giving a fantastic performance as always. I highly recommend the audiobook!

Awesome, though now a little bummed.

When an author can conjure the feelings of community, caring and compassion, they’ve got me. In high school, when i finished “lord of the rings”, i was so sad for so long. My fantasy “fellowship” of friends had “ gone on without me”. Whispering key is not Middle Earth…. Too much hot gay sex, lol, but the love is there. I wanna buy a house there someday. Oh, and the actor doing the Audible version is awesome! Thanks for the laughter and tears!!!!!!

The Universe has a sense of humor

Welcome back to the town of Whispering Keys, where the locals will welcome you with open arms, spaghettios, and advice you should listen to.
Beale is content in life with his yoga, crystals, and horoscopes. He's waiting for the Universe to send him his soul-mate, a sweet, shy Capricorn who may be a virgin, like himself.
Toby is not, well, any of these things. The person behind the widely popular Aunt Hagatha advice column is sassy, outspoken, and NOT a virgin. What he is is on the run. He was caught on camera in a compromising position and the fall-out could ruin two careers. So he runs to his friend Mason who can help.
What he gets is Beale and Whispering Keys.
On The Run is a wildly fun story. May has a way of making characters so dang likable. Both Beale and Toby bring out the absolute best in each other and, from the very first meeting, had me laughing. I loved their banter, their teasing, and their wordless conversations. The chemistry is amazing and the sex is unbelievably hot. The residents will have you wishing you lived right there with them.

Cute continuation of the series.

I was wary of another fake bf story, but this book does a great job of not overly focusing on the “fake” relationship and let’s the real relationship between the MCs develop. Plus Beale and Toby have great personalities and the quirky town of Whispering Key is its own character.

5 stars for whispering key

Love love love Toby and Beale. They are so perfectly imperfect and wonderful! I love the Aunt Hagatha bits and Toby is one of my all time favorite characters. Charge your crystals and get right with your juju and open those chakras bc you need to listen to Michael’s wonderful narration of the couple finding love on this perfect quirky island! The side characters are just as much fun as the MC’s!

Hilarious & Emotional...PERFECTION!!!

This has been one of my favorite reads, EVER!
It was off the charts hilarious and sweet.
Toby is a sarcastically flamboyant, emotionally closeted vulnerable delight. He is seriously my favorite character. Love, love love him.
Beal, of course, is totes his perfect soul mate.
I need more of Whispering Key!!!!!

The Narration was exceptionally "On Point"!!!

Keeping Secrets

It was exciting to see Beale get his story. I love the way Toby sees him for more than most people in town. The big lie makes sense when it is to protect someone else. I hated the breakup that didn’t seem to need to happen but was so excited to see them work out as they both decide to fight for what they want. They audio was a fun listen.

Loved!

It is impossible to not fall in love with Beale and Toby! Watching Beale grow and realize who he is and what he wants is beautiful. Toby is absolutely the perfect match for Beale. He is also more than he gives himself credit for. I loved the connection and dynamics between these two.
They truly see beneath the surface and know who the other really is.
This story is funny, heart warming, sexy and so much more!
Michael Dean does an amazing job of bringing this story to life!
I can't wait for the next chapter in the Whispering Key series!
