Publisher's summary

Two dead teens. A case gone cold. A twisted tangle of clues and dead ends.

One dark night… Geez, was that ever a doozy of a case?

See, it was April 1, 1998, when the bodies of two teenagers, a young fella and his girlfriend - both high school seniors - were found among the trees on a lonely road just inside the city limits. The bodies had been stripped and left for the wild animals to...well, you get the idea.

The cops had a good idea who the killer was, but they never could prove it, so the case went cold until April 1, 2012, when local DA, Larry Spruce, asked me to take a look at it.

Right from the get-go, I knew it was going to be a bad one, and it was. My name is Harry Starke. I’m a private investigator. You want to know how bad it was? Listen to find out.

superb story & Narration

ONE DARK NIGHT Blair Howard
# 6. Genesis S
The beginning is as poetry, the beauty, the stillness of the dark night until it was shattered by gun shots. The questions is why the young couple Samantha and Hunter, was dragged out of the truck and unclothed .The narration added to the suspense
Out golfing when Larry the DA asks Harry to look into a cold case for him, from fourteen years ago, he liked fresh eyes to look at, and find some closure.
Meeting the sister Jennifer was dead set on them inquiring with anyone in the family. The father they felt was hiding something, beside the sadness and anger. Meeting the older brother of Hunter, he was angry and wielded a wrench that looked lethal. Assistant Police Chief is angry that Harry is looking into this case, of which he supervised.
Intriguing, good flowing plot, was it a class difference, jealousy.
Harry is always interesting, and how he looks at the clues, and figures out what happened. Another winner for the author.

Action Packed Mystery on a Cold Case

Fourteen years later, Harry Starke is given a cold case. A cold case which involves two teenagers brutally shot and left nude in the forest thus removing all trace evidence the killer might have left behind. Both teenagers were from different sides of the track – she came from a wealthy family and the young man from the wrong side of the tracks and with a criminal background.

Harry Starke, ex-cop and now a private investigator, and his team are given this cold case to solve. Although the cops suspected someone close to the family, they could never prove it – now Starke must stir up the memories and dig deep … will he find the killer before they kill again? With each step forward, Starke is pushed back two! Missing files, missing evidence, lies, and protecting family are just a few things he must navigate around.

I thought Blair Howard, the author, crafted a solid mystery with strong characters. Howard captured and with words painted the emotions of protection, love, and desire for revenge very well. Howard keeps the listener guessing with each new plot twist. Each character is well built and keeps the story moving forward. The solving of the cold case is well structured and methodical.

The narrator, Tom Lennon gives a solid performance. His cadence is smooth and steady, he speaks clearly and concisely. His tonal inflection is balanced.

I enjoyed this story immensely and look forward to hearing more.

There were no issues with the production or quality of this audiobook. It was clear and crisp.
