Publisher's summary

Someone had noticed me. A secret admirer? A man with a good heart, who saw how much I actually do need help, even though I never admit it, and how much Sydney needs someone to teach her that men can be nice - that some of them stick around, no matter how hard life gets. Maybe I knew him. Maybe he's been around for a while. Maybe this is the beginning of a beautiful story - a romance full of hope and second chances and love.

A secret Santa gift left on Kale Brennan's front porch opens up a fresh view of her ordinary life, and perhaps a fresh view of God. Maybe her ordinary life matters, maybe God sees her - as does a new, single teacher who has her seven year old daughter gushing. But as she embraces new possibilities, a staple in her life - a man who is both kind and steady, and necessary for her injured daughter's recovery - also snatches her attention in an unexpected way. Will the one pursuing her with his secret gift and kind gestures be the one her heart longs for in the end?

"better than a Disney movie"

This is such a sweet story! I loved little Sydney! The narrator nailed the smart little girl and her bit of sass.
There is a great lesson of self forgiveness and letting go in this book.
I loved it!

The best novella I've ever heard or read.

The author did an amazing job of bringing the characters and making their struggles real. I can't send this story enough! I wish her other books for on audiobook.

Sweet story, well told. Excellent narrator

Some fun and great lines. Loved seven-year-old Sydney and the main character. Moving and thought-provoking at times.

Cozy winter romance

I received this Audible book in a Facebook giveaway, from the author. She did not ask me to review it.

This is a sweet novella with a winter/Christmas theme. The story is about a romance for a single mom. Throughout the story there are Christian references. I appreciated how the author used the story to show how the main character dealt w/her insecurity. I'm not sure the reader would clearly identify that the point is in how Christ should be one's soul satisfaction. One might easily think after reading this story that it's more about finding a kind man to meet that need. Still, I enjoyed this author's writing and look forward to digging into a longer book by her to see how she deals w/life issues in that format.

As for the narration, the main character, I assume, is in her twenties since she is a single mom w/a 7 year old. The narrator sounded like a teenager, however. There was not much distinction between her reading of the main character and the daughter, in my opinion. I might have to preview future audible reads w/this narrator. Depending on the story, it could distract from the storyline. Cuddle up w/some hot chocolate and this book and enjoy a quick afternoon listen.
