Publisher's summary

Want to know what Vietnam was really like?

Real stories told by real people, in their own words. Hundred veterans, men and women, caught up in an all-too-real war. From the Delta to the DMZ, come walk in their boots. If you were there, you understand. If you weren't, buy this audiobook and you will, because they’re like Doritos. Try a few, and you won't be able to stop.

The Vietnam War dominated my generation and affected so many lives in so many different ways. Some of us were drafted. Some enlisted. Some became war heroes, intentional or not, but most of us were just trying to survive. As we all knew, Vietnam was all about luck, good or bad. And there were hundreds of different wars depending on where you were, the year you were there, your service, branch, unit, rank, job, and race.

Whether we were truck drivers, helicopter pilots, infantryman, clerk typists, medics, engineers, MPs, sailors out on Yankee station, artillerymen, or cooks, from 1956 to 1976, from the Delta to the DMZ, these stories tell who we were, the jobs we did, our memories of that time and place, how it changed us, and what we did after we came home.

Unfortunately, what little our kids and grandkids know of the war comes from books that only focus on one soldier, one unit, and one year, or movies like Oliver Stone’s Platoon and Hamburger Hill, leaving people to think that all we did was crawl through the jungle on the Cambodian border smoking dope. But that wasn’t how most of us spent our year. Hopefully, this book will help correct that narrative.

William F. Brown is the author of nine action adventure and suspense novels on Kindle, including the highly successful Bob Burke series, and Our Vietnam Wars, volumes one to four, featuring personal stories of the veterans who served there.

His mystery and suspense novels include The Undertaker, Amongst My Enemies, Thursday at Noon, Aim True, My Brothers, Winner Lose All, and The Cold War Trilogy, as well as Burke’s War, Burke’s Gamble, and Burke’s Revenge. You can find them on my website and enjoy!

One Corpsman's Experiences

The section which was mine was well done, I thought. The reader was a professional, from all evidences, and the story had not been edited at all. Mr. Brown is to be commended for his efforts to chronicle our stories of our experiences in The Viet Nam War.

***** Powerful - Informative - Personal

This book is a series of short biographies or Real people who fought in Vietnam. These stories deserve to be heard! They were young people involved in circumstances they did not create. These young Warriors dealt with the circumstances of war to the best of their ability at the time and rose above the challenges they faced to be responsible members of our society! I believe with all my heart that every young person needs to hear this book. These Warriors of the Vietnam War are special because they met their challenges and did all they could to rise above them. Their contributions with their lives should be appreciated and remembered!

Thank you Mr. Brown for giving these great Warriors a voice! I highly recommend this book! After you have read it I sincerely hope that you will share it with some young people as I will share with my Grandsons to let them know that real men and women fought and gave everything they had to fight challenges they did not create and rise above those challenges! These are people our young people need to know and respect!
