Long defamed as a vicious pirate, Captain James Cook (a.k.a Hook) was in fact a dazzling wordsmith who left behind a vibrant, wildly entertaining, and entirely truthful memoir. His chronicle offers a counter narrative to the works of J.M. Barrie, a "dour Scotsman" whose spurious accounts got it all wrong. Now, award-winning playwright John Pielmeier is proud to present this crucial historic artifact in its entirety for the first time.

Story
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

Jazz Bashara is a criminal. Well, sort of. Life on Artemis, the first and only city on the moon, is tough if you're not a rich tourist or an eccentric billionaire. So smuggling in the occasional harmless bit of contraband barely counts, right? Not when you've got debts to pay and your job as a porter barely covers the rent. Everything changes when Jazz sees the chance to commit the perfect crime, with a reward too lucrative to turn down.

Different Twist!
This quick listen of the story of how Peter Pan came to be is a different twist from the fairytale version I grew up knowing. Tink, the fairy sprite, is actually the hero/heroine in this story. She sets out to find someone to save Neverland and brings back Peter in hopes that he can help. Peter is not a very nice boy in this story. He is selfish and stubborn and ends up doing something reprehensible. The lost boys in this story are actually lost spirits. It is quite a creative twist and a good introduction to the series. I am interested in listening to book two and seeing how the author deals with Captain Hook. Brad Wills does a wonderful job with the narration bringing the story to life and making the listening experience delightful. He definitely brought out the personalities and emotions of the characters.

Interesting twist
The story was of how Pan became Peter Pan. I thought the story was interesting although not very well developed. I suppose it is hard to expand upon the already established idea of Peter pan. The performance by Brad Wills was as always stellar. Various voices, inflections and pace was great to listen. Easy to understand voices.
