Peaks and Valleys is a story of a young man who lives unhappily in a valley until he meets an old man who lives on a peak, and it changes his work and life forever.

Initially, the young man does not realize he is talking with one of the most peaceful and successful people in the world. However, through a series of conversations and experiences that occur up on peaks and down in valleys, the young man comes to make some startling discoveries.

As usual with this author, I like how he presents fairly simple ideas in a way that allows one to consider them in a different light. Arrogance masquerading as confidence can knock you off a peak and fear masquerading as comfort can keep you in a valley, mirroring the high and low points of your life. A simple but profound truth that resonates through the examples provided in this book.

Loved it overall. Somewhat redundant at the beginning. But this was great. Hated the analogy at the end with the dog chasing the car… really wish I wasn’t left with that but otherwise it was great. Just end it when you’re imagining the smiling dog chasing the car. It gets ugly and the jibber jabber is not valuable so they could’ve just left it out and saved me from that visualization.

Maybe I’m missing something. Still…..
