Publisher's summary

The Darling children of Bloomsbury have a secret. His name is Peter Pan, a mischievous night visitor who's somewhere "betwixt and between" a boy and a bird and who refuses to grow up. When Peter invites young Wendy and her two brothers to follow him back to his Neverland home, an adventure beyond any bedtime story unfolds.

A world apart from its innumerable renditions, sequels, and spin-offs, Barrie's Peter and Wendy is a strange, beautiful, dark, and complex fantasy about the "heartless innocence" of children, the bittersweet longings of adult nostalgia, and the realities and fears of growing up.

AmazonClassics brings you timeless works from the masters of storytelling. Ideal for anyone who wants to read a great work for the first time or rediscover an old favorite, these new editions open the door to literature's most unforgettable characters and beloved worlds.

Revised edition: Previously published as Peter and Wendy, this edition of Peter and Wendy (AmazonClassics Edition) includes editorial revisions.

I’m sad now to have grown up

I never really read Peter Pan but like everyone I knew the story and to finally hear it as an adult it gives me a sort of melancholy feeling having grown up “for I am ever so much more than 20.”
I would have loved to hear more adventures of Peter Pan because this book itself was to short.
The narrator was delightful as well as the performance. A story everyone must read to their children.

The perfect narration

Would never listen to a different audio version of this book. Perfection. And Jm Barrie is of course fantastically clever and witty and pure wonderful imagination.

Loss and Grief in various forms wonderfully presented as a children’s story

J. M. Barrie’s delightful story of Peter Pan and Wendy is appropriate for children of all ages from 4-104. The reading by Karen Cass is exceptional, the best I have heard. The story itself is rich in imagination and can simply be enjoyed as such. In fact it has been relished so for over 100 years. But there is much more here for the curious reader who may have a sense of the more profound story concealed within. Almost from the very beginning of this narrative, one may wonder why the house of the Darling family is identified as number “14” on an anonymous street. Why “14” one might be curious to know or simply amble by with eager interest in the expected unfolding and thereby quickly be rewarded by a very engaging narrative. And yet that reader might miss an opportunity to be conveyed to another realm of understanding: “Why was this gifted author compelled to write this story?” I will leave that question for the particularly adventurous reader and all others to enjoy simply a very good story well told by an excellent narrator.

Just don't

I love to read and will read just about anything. This was the worst book I have ever read. It goes around in circles and half of it doesn't make sense. I couldn't even finish it. If you need help boring yourself to read, this would be the one for you. Warning, it might give you a headache if you do try to read it
