Publisher's summary

So you want to fight crime? Save people from villains? Be the good guy? If the answer is "yes" to all these questions, then the life of a sidekick just might be for you.

Warning: not responsible for potential death or dismemberment.

Davis might come to regret the day he decided to become a sidekick, but now that he has already put in the time to complete the certification program, he was going to see it through. But first, he needs to survive in the wild for a couple of weeks with his fellow wannabe sidekicks; nothing like teen angst and drama to make a man feel his years.

If he succeeds and makes it as a sidekick, he gets to look forward to working with the cantankerous Hammer Jack, a hero of some repute. Though whether that is good or bad is yet to be determined. The time has come for Davis to embrace his new life and take his place on Planet Hero as a lowly sidekick.

What is planet hero We get this Question Brought up Is it the near future is it another planet this Bridge book It is more As we get to see what the superhero'sIs Sidekick go throughAnd we get it a little glimpse of past problems such as what happens with nuclear power when nanos reactIs and possible negative biochemical reactions within the human brain to gaining too many milestones stones we also see that our main character may be a little bit more than we thought he would beAnd there's a possibility he may be more is more on Earth and on planet hero?

Couldn't care less about Earth honestly

The book is good. As good as the first. And that's hard to pull off when you split your time on an already short book just to talk about Earth and a few people back there we don't care about.

I realize that Earth is Planet Hero's past, but I still barely cared. Every time it went to Earth I sighed. I almost skipped them a few times.

The only reason I like this, is because the MC isn't stupid about his powers. If he was any less creative or funny this book would have ended up in my garbage pile of books never to be finished.

Surpasses All Expectations

Since finishing MA Carlson’s fabulous first novel in this series, ‘Planet Hero: Civilian’, I’ve been on pins and needles waiting for Book 2. And, boy, does Carlson deliver a story with as much imagination and originality as Book 1. I love how seamlessly Carlson creates a universe that seems custom made for me. The emphasis is more on sci-fi than fantasy, and SUPERHEROES! It doesn’t get any better than that for me.

Readers are introduced to many new and fascinating characters while Davis (aka The Physician) is training as a sidekick. Characters from the previous book also make appearances, most prominently Hammer Jack. They all work together to overcome the life-threatening challenge of the book, along with some surprising villains.

In addition to saving lives, and killing and cultivating beasts, Davis is methodically working to understand how the bio-nano converters work, despite knowing it’s illegal to do so. I’m just as curious as Davis to find out the mechanics of this conversion process.

And, while all that’s happening on Planet Hero, a significant portion of this book is spent detailing what’s occuring back on Earth. Just like the mysterious nano-converter mystery, I’m anxious to see where Carlson takes this plot development, and where it will intersect with the events on Planet Hero. I really hope the wait for Book 3 isn’t long!

Jeffrey Kafer is the perfect choice to narrate this series. He is a top-notch voice actor, lending just the right amount of sarcasm to Davis’ character. He has a superlative ability to give the numerous characters in this series distinct voices. He’s the best of the best, in my opinion.

I was given a free review copy of this audiobook, at my request, and have now written a voluntary opinion of it.

Highly recommended.

I've been waiting for this book to come out!!!

Great story and narration!

Davis is back, and hijinks ensue as he goes through the sidekick program on his way to becoming a hero in his new world.

This epic adventure is a barrel of laughs as we follow a man from modern-day Earth who gets transported to a world full of heroes and villains!

Jeffrey does a fantastic job with the narration!

If you enjoyed the first book in the planet hero series then you will love this one as well!

This was a fantastic audiobook and I can't wait to find out what happens in the next one in the series!!!

excellent every bit as good as the first.

We get a lot more world build and a sense of the events that led up to planet hero. There is action and some intrigue, a bunch of banter.

I still loving the way the story blends super heroes and light novel cultivation, as far as I know there isn't another series quite like this.

The narration is excellent the whole way through.

There is one format error where chapter 19 repeats once.
