Reseñas editoriales
An exciting collaboration between two experienced authors, Poe: An Alexandra Poe Thriller, written by Brett Battles and Robert Gregory Browne, delivers intense drama with a fierce female lead: the titular Alexandra Poe, an Iraq war veteran embroiled in a dangerous search for her allegedly treasonous father. Actor Abby Craden brings a tense energy to her narration of this suspenseful novel, and proves especially adept at bringing Alexandra herself to life. Press play and let Craden sweep you away into a world of international intrigue…but with plot twists aplenty, just know that you may find it hard to press stop.
The story line and plot was good. There was a lot going on all the time. Interesting to purposely get arrested in another country so you can go to prison to break someone out. That was fun.
I like Cooper a lot more than I like Deuce. Deuce was a bit immature for my liking.
As for the narration, sigh.......... Not very good in my opinion. It was dull, and boring and the reading voice was meh. Please find a new narrator. Brittany Pressley is perfect for these types of books.
Enjoyed the story. Narration, not so much

For Poe, two great best-selling authors, Brett Battles and Robert Gregory Browne, combine their collective forces and storytelling talents to bring us a thrilling adventure witch you will not be able to put down until the last word fades away.Alexandra Poe is a bounty hunter! She is a beautiful woman, while being also very tough and capable to hold her own in any fight or difficult situation. After spending her youth working for the Army, even taking part in the 2nd Golf War, she is approached by a man, that tells her a secret and makes her an offer witch will turn her life upside down.
Alex decided to join the Military, at an early age, after her mom died tragically and her father vanished, falling off the face of the earth, after he was put under suspicion of treason. Alex’s only family is her brother, and now, 10 years later she learns that someone knows where her father is hiding. That someone is the man with the secret. He works for Stonewell International, a security firm that tried to recruit Alexandra Poe in the past, but now, driven by her obsession to reach her father, she has to accept a contract from them, but the contract will be more then she has bargain for.
Poe’s adventures will breathlessly cary us, from the boulevards of Paris, France, to Galați, a small town in Romania, to Switzerland and the United States, while Mystery, intrigue, covert operations, espionage and prison breaks will keep the reader glued to the pages, making hours pass like a blur.
Brett Battles and Robert Gregory Browne are both awesome thriller writers by themselves, and they created a very interesting, com pelling, thrilling and suspenseful story, with likable characters and on the razer’s edge action for this first Alexandra Poe novel.
The audiobook version of Poe is performed by the actress Abby Craden and she is quite good! I enjoyed her narration before with other ,female characters from The Passage and The Summer Guest, both books written by the great Justin Cronin. She has a very pleasant voice and manages to bring Alex and all the other characters to life. Abby reads the story, never hurrying, taking her time, filling it with passion, doubt, hate, love, compassion and other emotions, treating the listener to a great acting performance. I will listen to more audiobooks narrated by Abby.
Poe is a great book, The plot is very interesting, the characters lifelike and the action never stops. I really enjoyed the audiobook version of it and I am deffinetly looking forward for more of Poe’s Adventures.

This was a good book but what the author did was totally unnecessary. At 85% I was ready to quit reading.
Plus, as much as I don’t mind unbelievability this was a little far-fetched. I mean, Alexandra Poe’s father had been gone for years, just up and left her and her brother one day, AND was accused of being a traitor, but she thinks it’s a good idea to go to the Ukraine, get thrown in jail, do her best to escape with a woman that MIGHT give her information about her father? And the company she’s working for plan on bringing her father back to the States to stand trial. Just what was so important that she would go through all this danger to find out? Maybe to ask, why did you leave us?
Anyway, overall, I enjoyed the book, mostly. I liked that Poe could really kick some butt. And I have to say I was surprised at who the assassin was that the Committee sent to kill El-Hashim. I would have never thought of her.
As exciting as the book was it could have been better. I hate when you grow to like someone all through the story and the author decides to kill them off. It was a total bummer.
As to the narration: Abby Craden did a fine job on the voices and emotions. Normally I don’t like her because her males sound like they’re constipated BUT that’s in romances. She does a better job with murder-mysteries, don’t ask me why.
Good read and decent narration..

Worthwhile, but not up to Brett Battles standards

The hardest part was the narrator. The dialogue often sounded childish and over-acted, and at times the non-dialogue were worse. It was just.... Odd.
Ok, not great
