Very informative!

I love the recipes in here!

I only have one main gripe though. if you are someone who can't stand to read/listen to a book that makes it feel like a really long Twitter post then you might not be able to get into this book. there were sometimes that I found it super 🧀 when the author threw in a hash tag for one of the recipe names but really thats just all up to personal taste.

when I got the book initially I didn't think that thered be so many alcoholic options but I cant complain about that haha

My full audio review

I listened to this from beginning to end. I love audio books. It's good for when you want to multi-task. I fell asleep while it was being read to me. It is cozy, informational, and downright awesome.

Buy the book, not the audio

Not its fault but as you can imagine recipe books are not good audio books. Alexandre really made a good book of correspondences and fun cocktails but that is it. She accurately says the most important part of a spell or potion is intention... the recipes and correspondences are second. Thus even a cup of coffee or tea is all you need, even just a cup of water. You don't need recipes and correspondences, though they can be helpful.

She is fun and clearly is passionate with her craft. I'll buy the book and make some of these drinks for sure. She adds a lot of interesting magickal facts and history to the book as well. Only one area she mentions is wholly incorrect: She cautions against using the term smudging and to smudge white sage is cultural appropriation and claims white sage is endangered, but all this is incorrect. Any magickal practice can be performed by anyone as long as it is done respectfully and for its intended purposes. For example, many people practice chakra mediation, it is not reserved for east Indians. Neither is smudging with white sage. White sage is not endangered. Nor is smudge an indigenous term to only be used by indigenous people (it is an English word originally meaning to clean (cure) fish or to keep a smoking fire to keep bugs away). A small error and understandable given modern sensitivities, but Alexandre's caution is misplaced in this case.

Overall this is a fun addition to anyone interested in magick or just wants to try a few fun cocktails.
