Some legends are true.
It is a myth out of history, spawned by Native American lore and the stories of Spanish explorers. But what if the legends are true?
Former Navy SEAL turned treasure hunter Uriah "Bones" Bonebrake sets off on his first solo adventure in this action-packed novella.
When television host Joanna Slater hires Bones to help investigate one of Florida's oldest and best-known legends, their crew gets more than they bargained for. Mystery and thrills abound in Primitive!

Any additional comments?
Considering that I was born and raised in Florida, I found the subject of this story very interesting! We have had many discussions concerning this legend in my family, so it was interesting to see the storyline used here. Without giving spoilers, I really enjoyed the treatment it received in this adventure. I never get tired of Bones and Maddock and was very pleased to find a bonus short story included with this audiobook. It was an entertaining short, with a very big "what if"!Two Excellent Stories for the Price of One

Looks like I have found another B Movie writer, along the lines of Jeremy Robinson, Steve Alten and Jonathan Maberry. The first story is a trip into the swamp to find Big Foot or SKUNK APE. The second story was even better and involves the Aztecs and alternate worlds. You have to suspend belief and listen to a lot of macho bravado talk, but I found it a fun book. The main character is six foot five inches in story one and six foot six inches in story two, no big deal, just found that interesting.
THE SAILORS PARTED LIKE THE RED SEA FOR MOSES
The writing is a little over done and Kafer fits over done well. In these type of stories you try to get Ray Porter or R.C. Bray, but when you can't get them, you hope you can get Jeffrey Kafer. He drags out the last word of each seeentennnce, as they teach in TV reporter school, but he has a great voice.
Believe It Or Not

It also includes the Maddock and Bones short story - Aztlan. This was a fun, short read...well, that was how it started, then I got sad (all I'm going to say is...the text & picture..dammit!). It's hard to believe that a story involving these two characters could be done in a short story, but David Wood proves once again that he has the skill to weave an excellent adventure where these two are concerned, whether it be a short story like this, a novella or a full length novel.
These are great standalone stories and if you're new to David Wood's writing I think this would be an excellent introduction. Nothing that could cause any spoilers.
Jeffrey Kafer never fails to deliver and this is no exception. Whenever I read the Maddock Adventure books I always hear Bones in my mind as performed by Kafer. His performance of that character has always stood out for me, so having a book about a Bones adventure was great.
A great adventure

There is not a lot of character development or side plots here. It is pretty cut and dry story of an investigation and what it finds. Is there danger and deviousness involved...to a minimal degree yes. As a toe in the water checking to see if the character can carry his own novel, this does fine.
The short story that follows (a bonus) is actually better as it could have been the basis for an entire full length novel.
Recommended for fans of the series and fans of cryptid stories in general.
A nice simple little cryptid story
