Publisher's summary

Gorgeous alien commanders don’t fall for Earth girls with criminal records. Do they?

I’ve got a list of regrets a mile long, starting with the time I went to jail and ending with the fact that not long after I got out, I was abducted by alien smugglers. As if that isn’t bad enough, a split-second decision when their ship crashes nearly costs me my life.

And when I wake up after the crash, everything has changed.

I’m no longer being held captive by brutal space pirates. Instead, I’ve been rescued by a group of alien warriors called Zivonians. Their leader, Ryven, claims he wants to help me, offering me safe haven on their massive ship.

I know how the universe works, though. You never get something for nothing, so there has to be a catch somewhere. Despite the temptation to trust this powerful, handsome warrior, I know I can’t afford to open up my heart.

But when I make a mistake and have to face the consequences of my actions, the only one willing to stand up for me…is Ryven.

Everyone I knew back on Earth saw me as nothing but the sum total of my screw-ups, but Ryven looks at me differently.

He looks at me like someone worth protecting. Someone worth fighting for. Someone worth loving.

Will he still feel that way when he finds out about my past?

Protected by the Alien Commander is a full-length stand-alone sci-fi romance featuring a heroine with a troubled past and a battle-hardened alien commander with a soft spot for his fierce human mate.

If you like sexy aliens, sweeping adventure, and steamy romance, you’ll love this series. No cheating, no cliff-hanger, and a happily ever after guaranteed!

Note: Each book in the series can be listened to as a stand-alone, but for maximum enjoyment, it’s recommended that the series be heard in order.

I wanted something more

I'm not sure how I feel about this series now that book 2 has landed. I'm glad the aimless drifters in space is addressed at the end, but that was really the only world building done and I expected so much more considering how light on details everything was in the first book. For me, I just don't see the point in these aliens being aliens. Doesn't help that the cover art is more of the same for these bronze to green color changing guys.

The romance was ok with more sex than I expected. Some of it seemed out of place, but nothing too crazy. I guess I'm just wanting more substance from these characters because it all seems very generic at this point. I wasn't hooked with the epilogue, so I might wait until a few more books are out before I pick up another one. This might be one of those series where I need to skip around books to enjoy it.

Redundant

The storyline had some differences; however, a lot of the same exact words were used from the last book which made it seem like I was listening to the previous book. Even the reluctance of female characters was the the same. When I listen to a series, each book should be able to stand alone; the saga should continue but not as the same ole same ole. Narration was fine. I like that the violence isn’t as gory and graphic as other books in the genre and the love making is done tastefully.

Review: Protected by the Alien Commander

The story seemed repetitive and simple. The Male voice was too low so I sped up the timing to raise the pitch. The female voice was fine, but I had keep adjusting back to normal speed. I chose this story because it stated it was a full novel in a part of a series, but after listening to this one, I will not continue with anymore. This was my first & last listening to a book written by this author ( Presley Hall).

Spoiler Alert

So if you listened to book one, you know the FMC was a thief. Well guess what, book two has the FMC as a thief also.
She's abducted by aliens, get fatally wounded, saved by the good guys, healed, and then steals from them. Yup, if that's not ridiculous enough, she gets angry at them for throwing her in the brig.
I'm 3/4 into this book and she's still doing the "woe-is-me" thing. Justifying thievery, hating the world, can't trust anybody. Why? Because her sister died of cancer. Ummm? WTF?
Hello? Presley Hall do you read reviews? Because nobody likes this kind of character, especially when it's a lead character.
It's complete idiocy how the author has created these women to be obtuse?

As far as narration goes, it's a personal preference. I enjoy this male reading this particular trope, but not the female. She's OK, but for me she's... meh.

Such a fun series

This reads a lot like the first book, but we get a little bit more of the world. I wish there was more world building and difference in the alien culture.

That said, it's very fun and has action outside of just the romance. The characters were strong and believable. No whiny FMC here! She's resourceful and quick. He sees the best in her.

Couldn't finish

Someone toss her off the ship already. Same old, same old. Predictable every step of the way. Very boring.

Boring

You know how the story is going to end before the first chapter. All Hall books are the same theme. Extremely unimaginative. The narrators are monotone no inflection in there voices adding no excitement to the different situations. and the sex seen’s
are as unimaginative as the story line,

Can’t finish 😣

The female is horrible! She needs to shut up, stop feeling sorry for herself, be accountable for her actions…stop being a KAREN. So, no for me.
