Amazing narrator

This narration is amazing. I'm sitting here, crying over the ending, and mostly upset that she hasn't finished Immaculate Corpse so that I can keep going.

I’ve read and listened to this beauty!

I just finished Pure Poison by Hawkings Austin. This book was AWESOME. It blew me away. I have to say it’s one of the best books I’ve read in a little while. I was entranced by so many factors, but most of all: the storyline was so interesting. Want some time travel, Hades, vampires, and serious action? If you said yes, then this is the book for you!

I have a rule about reading books more than once. If you earn a second read, it means I really liked the book. I love this book. I’ve already told several people to read it, and I plan on rereading it again and again.

WHY? Well… let’s start with the cover. It’s a beautiful piece of art that made me want to read this book. If I saw this cover beside a bunch of other books, I’d definitely be drawn to it with its golds and reds.

Then there are the amazingly fascinating characters. I mean, Pure is quirky and literally not from this time. Then, Kitty, Ken, Brenda, etc. are all amazing characters with just enough detail to make you care. You really feel like they are people!

There are a few confusing logistics, so let’s hit those. There is the element of time travel and how Pure isn’t really in touch with reality and if she is in the present or not. That makes the beginning of the book a little confusing, but if you keep reading long enough, you get your feet wet and understand. I won’t lie though. I was pretty confused at first. I had no idea what was happening for a little while.

Even with that being said, I found that kind of a motivating factor. I wanted to keep reading to understand. It wasn’t just disorienting. I wanted more and more information. The only way to get that element of the story was to read/listen. It was a masterfully crafted story.

Oh yeah, and I almost forgot to mention this! One of my favorite things about this book was that it was so real! I know, I know… I said vampires. I mean, the voice of the characters and reality of choices was real. I mean, I could hear the voices in my head. And the characters did real things. They used the bathroom and did their makeup. You know, it was super realistic. Most books forget to have people eat and be human. It was a nice change without being too much boring!

But that ending, it ripped me up. I was not expecting what happened in the end. I’m still a little raw. I don’t know how I feel, but I know that I certainly didn’t expect what happened to happen. All in all, I highly recommend this book and give it a five out of five stars. If anyone wants my opinion, Pure Poison should be on your reading list if you like urban fantasy!
