Best Children's Audio I've Heard

I'm a children's librarian and a mom. I've heard a lot of children's audio books and performances. I'm not exaggerating when I say this is the best. The story has been not just updated, but upgraded, with lots of new twists that make it a full length performance of what could have been a short fairy tale. Excellent songs and a hilarious cast of brilliant, top-notch performers will have the whole family laughing and singing along, not just the kids!

Great fun.

I admit it. As soon as I finished listening the first time, I went back to listen again. It's just that fun.
This updated version of a fairy tale that originated in the 1500s holds its own. All of the characters are well-rounded, the actors are all fully engaged, and the music is the kind that sticks with you well after the book itself is complete. Catchy catchy tunes! The pacing of the story is excellent and I expect will hold children's attention well.
Jim Dale's storytelling is brilliant, and it was clear the cast was having just as much fun telling the story as I had listening.
I've not been able to find anything that tells me which actor played which role - but trust me: they are all brilliant.

Now I'm thinking a third listen might be needed.

Enjoyable—adults will like it too

I enjoyed this immensely; it kept me company and entertained me on an otherwise difficult bus trip. Jim Dale leads a cast of impeccable voiceover talent, the music and the story are charming and uplifting, and I think this is one audiobook aimed at children that their adults will also enjoy.

The whole family loved it!

Such a rarity to find a children’s book that is as entertaining and enjoyable for the adults as well. We found this at the local library on cd, later downloaded it to audible to enjoy again and again… we just sought another title by the same folks: Spin. I hope we enjoy it as much. I hope to find more titles by this team in the future.
