About this listen

A world the gods forgot.

Of all the worlds and life they created, the gods favored their children the most. But with that favor came the fear that their Legacy would one day become too powerful and overthrow them. Devram was created. A realm hidden amongst the stars. The gods gave their Legacy the best of all the worlds, and then they left, a sworn agreement to never return and to never interfere.

A historical event.

Forced to a life of servitude, the Fae are required to provide for the Legacy in more ways than one. Every five years, the eligible Fae are gathered for the Selection and assigned to serve in one of the six Kingdoms. To be chosen as the personal Source for a Kingdom Heir is the greatest honor, and for the first time in a millennia, all six Kingdoms have heirs choosing a Source. But their selections could tip the power balance a little too far.

A chosen that was never meant to be.Tessalyn Asura was as forgotten as the realm. But when she finds herself the personal Source to the Heir of Endings, she winds up serving in the darkest Kingdom of them all. The secrets within the Arius Kingdom are meant to be learned and kept, but this was never the life she wanted. Fighting not only the fate thrust upon her, but the temptation to lose herself to desire, Tessa will do anything to escape her new destiny. Until she starts to realize maybe their world wasn’t as forgotten as they thought, and maybe she’s the reason why.

Rain of Shadows and Endings is book one in The Legacy Series and ends on a cliffhanger. This is new adult dark fantasy romance series and includes elements that may be triggering to some listeners.

whiny, Tessa is really whiny!

story is ok, but the whole book is on Tessa whining and childish. I hope the next book is better.

Finally Something Fresh

I have listened to hundreds of audiobooks and rarely take the time to leave a review, but I feel like this one deserves some more excellent reviews. SO GOOD. Finally, a FMC that doesn’t fall in love at first kiss. She is temperamental, but relatable.

The banter amongst the characters keeps the story exciting and the author doesn’t spell out every little detail you, like in the Lady of Darkness series (I’m trying to read now because I’m in the midst of a book hangover after this one, but it’s just not written the same)….AUDIBLE, PLEASE RELEASE THE REST OF THIS SERIES!!!!

so good!

This was so unexpectedly underrated..

I haven't come across a listen this good in a while.. it's reminiscent of "blood and ash" but not.. it ends on a cliffhanger (shocker🙄) but it has all the angst with enemies to lovers vibes, forced proximity, strong FMC, alpha Male over protective assholes, suspence, paranormal/ romantacy.. all while a profecy unfolding... all the feels ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I love this book

I love this book. It's the first book I have read that I hate the MMC but LOVE the book. I have a feeling that he will get redemption and I am here for it. I like the FMC and love the side MCs. If you like Lady of Darkness you will like this series. This was is darker than Lady if Darkness but the world building it great. It is amazing additional to multiverse Melissa is building.

a wordy story

I was very intrigued by the story and the magical world. Though the writing is descriptve, it seemed too drawn out and repeated arguments by my guess toshowcase I wished this book was a bit shorter

So. Damn. Good.

Seriously so good. The world building. The narrator’s. Everything was wonderful! The only criticism I would have would be that it had a lot of hibbity bibbity that got a bit confusing. Also I do wish Theon would have made Tessa realize that s*it was more dire before the last few chapters. Other than that it was good.

Main character stayed ignorant and controlled for way too long….

I am a fan of dark fantasy romance, but this book was not that. I WILL say that it seems like the second book is set up to be much better than the first because things will begin moving. The writing and world building was good, however here is my complaint—*spoilers* —this book should have been half the length if the story was only going to progress as far as it did. There was no story or character arc. All the main characters stayed exactly the same the whole way through. The entire book (aside from LITERALLY the last chapter) the FMC who was secretly the most powerful person in the entire realm stayed completely ignorant to it. Instead she was forced to be a “source” to a complete asshole. She was literally branded, forced to sit at the dudes feet at dinner and the list goes on. And the level of degradation to the fae race by the so called “descendants of the gods” who in reality have no power if not for taking it from the fae was non stop through the whole book with no change, improvement or progress. The FMC just kept cowering down and letting the MMC walk all over her. He legit controlled what she ate and what clothes she wore. **please note—I live for morally gray characters and get my smiles from a good book scene where the male dominates BUT this was not that. The MMC had NO tender moments or a realization that he loved her and changed his ways. This book was too dark even for me and I hate that the very ending set me up for wanting to read the next book if it is just more of the same I will be putting it down right away. All that said, the author still has incredible writing skill, it was just the story itself that was a problem for me.

Perfection!

It’s dark but not THAT dark. The charters and the magical realm that was built just comes to life as the story was being told was perfectly written! I definitely need the second book!
