Publisher's summary

New technologies, patterns, and frameworks are being developed every year so it's hard to stay up-to-date. This audiobook is intended to help to bridge that gap. The book does not provide secret recipes or uncover new patterns. The goal was to create a guide that provides a conventional overview of key .NET software development topics and helps formalize definitions of concepts such as the .NET Framework, Object-Oriented Programming, and design patterns.

A great refresher

This book is true to its title. I have listened to it many times over the past few years to reinforce important concepts and design patters. Lots of useful information in a short time period.

Excellent refresher

I have been disconnected with the programming world for around 4 years after my immigration to Canada from Pakistan but this refreshening course have been a very good start in getting back to the developers job finding as I am getting my confidence back. Thank you Aleksey for compiling this all together.

Good book for interview prep

Any additional comments?

I used it in interview prep. The book doesn't go deep but covers a lot of topics. Definitely a good book to have.

Great overview of Software Design Principles

If you could sum up Refresher on .NET and Software Design Fundamentals for C# Developers in three words, what would they be?

Review of design principles and .NET internals

What was one of the most memorable moments of Refresher on .NET and Software Design Fundamentals for C# Developers?

OOP terms and definitions, SOLID design principle and .NET CRL internals

Have you listened to any of Todd Gaddy’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

It was my first book narrated by Todd Gaddy, nice voice and good reading speed.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Book is not easy to digest in one sitting, definitely needs couple iterations due to the amount of information

Any additional comments?

This is not a book to learn the C# language, despite the name it doesn't focus on the syntax of C# or C# keywords. The book is about software design principles, algorithms and .NET internals. The information provided is good but the name can be misleading.

Not very useful.

The information provided in this audiobook is not going to provide any "refreshing" on C#. It is rather a generic reading of a first year comp sci notes on topics such as link lists. It's just not useful and you can get better info off the web. Also the recording quality is poor. It sounds like someone read it through a mic on a computer. Lots of static and drop offs.

Horrible - don't waste your time and money

I feel stupider after listening to these monotonic ramblings. The trailer will entice you with a father/son bonding experience. The audio book contains a monotonic narrator reciteing text verbatim. After listening to a few chapters I came to the conclusion the narrator actually enjoyed throwing out elusive words and doing his best to confuse the listener.

A definite MUST-NOT have. If I could give negative stars I would have.
