About this listen

Welcome to Anara, a world mysteriously crumbling to devastation, where nothing is what it seems: Ancient relics emit technologically advanced powers, members of the old Order are hunted by the governing Watch yet revered by the people, and the great energy that connects all seems to also be destroying all.

The only hope for the world lies in Galen, a man of the old Order and a Keeper of relics, and his 16-year-old apprentice, Raffi. They know of a secret relic with great power that has been hidden for centuries. As they search for it, they will be tested beyond their limits. For there are monsters - some human, some not - that also want the relic's power and will stop at nothing to get it.

This is a GREAT SERIES! Love it all!

What made the experience of listening to Relic Master: The Dark City, Book 1 the most enjoyable?

The great plot & story, as well as believable characters. I loved the good ones and hated the bad ones, just as you'd expect.

Who was your favorite character and why?

That's a toughie. But Galen & Raphie were the best, I suppose, although I enjoyed the heroine as well.

Have you listened to any of Dan Bittner’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No, this is the first one.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, I wanted to, but wasn't able to. But as soon as I finished the first one, I couldn't wait to get on to the next!

Any additional comments?

LOVE LISTENING TO 'YOUTH' OR 'YOUNG ADULT' books so there's very little languages and rarely any smut. In fact, I will rarely select a story unless I've already read or listened to one of their books before. I am very particular when it comes to that stuff.

A great, formula story

Wizard; apprentice; a Wookiee stand-in; mystery girl; a quest. Like young Star Wars; like Flanagan's Rangers Apprentice. Like Delany's Last Apprentice. Like the classic L. Alexander's Prydain Chronicles (but without the humor). Like a half dozen lost space colonists series, such as Angie Sage's Tod Hunger Moon series. These series are the upper half of YA series,
