About this listen

An Alpha Legion Novel

The leader of an Alpha Legion warband continues the Long War against the Imperium of Mankind, while harbouring the ambition to become the Harrowmaster and unite his Legion.

LISTEN TO IT BECAUSE

See the Alpha Legion in the wake of the Great Rift, as they face the power of the Primaris Space Marines of the Indomitus Crusade.

THE STORY

The Alpha Legion are devious beyond measure, but deceit is a double-edged sword. As the Indomitus Crusade pushes into the far reaches of the Ultima Segmentum, the warband known as the Serpent's Teeth encounter the fearsome Primaris Marines, and the Alpha Legion is faced with a choice – fade into the shadows, or adapt and strike back.

Solomon Akurra, leader of the Teeth, intends to claim the title of Harrowmaster and bind together the feuding heads of the hydra that make up his Legion. His allies are disparate and unproven, and his enemies march with the might of the Imperium at their back. Much is not as it seems, and the odds are stacked against the sons of Alpharius… but Solomon is armed with a weapon the Imperium cannot ignore – the truth.

Written by Mike Brooks. Read by Theo Solomon. Running time is 11 hours and 49 minutes (approx).

Hydra Dominatus! For the Serpent!

While some of the voices of the marines took me by surprise I loved the book anyways, and the fact that it is a book of my favorite traitor legion takes supremacy. I am no prophet, but I believe that this book may one day become a must read for fellow operatives of the Ghost Legion.

Mid quality Alpha Legion

If you replaced “traitor” with “loyal”…. And “alpha legion” with “deathwatch”, youd have a deathwatch book.

The whole point of the alpha legion is ultimate secrecy. In this plot, secrecy is ‘put to the side’ to meet ‘the greater threat’.

This is a trope all mid quality 40k books fall into and the plethora of 4/5 star reviews are unearned imo.

Love the story but….

It really doesn't do the whole next-gen Space Marines justice. How are you superior in every way but still get swept? The age and experience gap notwithstanding, the new breed really really sucks. Great story though.

Alphirus lives!

Fantastic book for the best legion in the warhammer 40,000 universe! True to the Alpha legion, there are lots of twists and turns culminating in an ending you will have to hear for yourself! but know it will have ripple effects throughout the 40k universe.

Excellent 40k Novel

I thoroughly enjoyed listening to Harrowmaster. It was a fun story with enjoyable characters. It had all the twists and turns I expected in an Alpha Legion novel. It's fun seeing renegade Space Marines have a bit of personality instead of being just generic Chaos Baddies.

Several people mentioned the narration. The first half of the book was a bit rough and it seemed to get better as the book progressed. I would agree the narrator probably isn't the best choice for a Space Marine novel. However, most of the problems I had with the narration weren't with the narrator himself, It feels like there were some weird cuts and obvious shifts in voice mid sentence, to point it was occasionally distracting. It all seemed like editing or post production issues. It happened way more often in the first half of the book and got better (or maybe I got wrapped up in the story and stopped noticing).

please fire the narrator

the narrator of this book was so distractingly bad, I couldn't tell if I actually liked the book. he read space marines as if they were teenage boys, high pitch and voice cracks included. the entire tone of the book was off. how did this guy even get hired?

The Legion is back baby!

Love Solomon as the new “main character” for the Alpha Legion in 40k, especially with Tilava as his sidekick. Really does the Alpha Legion justice for how they are in the 41st Millennium. Highly recommended if you love the 20th or Chaos Marines with less Chaos, and more Marine.

Hydra Dominatus

An excellent and much-needed modern look into the Alpha Legion and how it operates. It’s an interesting story that introduces equally interesting new characters that I hope will become reoccurring ones for years to come. The author managed to turn the ever divided and scheming alpha legion into a considerable cohesive threat again for the first time in ten millennia. Making them a relevant faction once again.

I eagerly await the sequel.
