Publisher's summary

Graviton Cemetery: the biggest, oldest, most haunted graveyard in the world. And the Requiem 4 unit is here to clean things up.

In a dystopian, war-torn future where a godless global network reprograms the masses for compliance, the Requiem units are a dying breed. Manned by sciocists - scientific exorcists - and armed with state-of-the-art technology, the units sweep cemeteries of "latent soul energy". However, there's a lot more than just ghosts in Graviton.

Father Aguste Lax, military chaplain to Requiem 4, has his own doubts. The cross around his neck is a feeble reminder of his waning faith. Yet when they encounter a Type Six entity, no amount of quantum firepower can save them. Lax becomes their only hope for escaping Graviton alive.

But can his faith prevail against an evil this ancient? Or will Graviton Cemetery become the final resting place for Requiem 4?

H.P. Lovecraft Feel To This Story

This was an enjoyable audiobook. The story was fast paced. The scene setup so I can easily imagine it in my mind. It reminded me, in part, of H.P. Lovecraft. Maybe it was because I’d just finished watching a Lovecraft movie? Or it might have been because of the description towards the end of this story gave me that impression. Regardless, it’s a well written story, kept me interested to the very end. Very well done. I liked the narrator and think he did a great job voicing each character. I received this audiobook in exchange for a review. The honest opinions in this review are my own. I look forward to reading other books by Mike Duran.

A Nice Rendition of this story.

The audio was a nice rendition of the book. The narrator made the story come to life. But the audio lost something from my visualizing it in my imagination. But then I am still new at audios.

Great mix of eldritch horror and science fiction.

Mike Duran sets up a fictional universe in "Requiem 4" that is stylish, concise, deep and mysterious. The language is at once evocative of the elaborate style of H.P. Lovecraft and the technical economy of Orson Scott Card. He deftly wove spiritual themes in this short work while maintaining empathy and realism with his characterizations. This is a difficult balance to master and Mike Duran has done a great job doing so in this work. I'm intrigued to know more about the glimpse of the universe he has delivered.

I should point out that I was given this audiobook in exchange for an honest review. This review is my honest opinion and, as far as I know, was not written under the influence of any form of evil - ancient or otherwise.

Interesting Book and Concept

I think this is one of the few cases where I would enjoy the print version more than the audiobook. Durhan's old-school prose sometimes skews to the verbose, but I found his character's POV compelling and interesting. The book is a little out of the ordinary as fantasy goes, but it's quirkiness has a likable charm to it. My only real complaint was that the reader seemed overmatched by the prose. Durhan put a lot of earned drama into the work and I don't think the reader was up to the challenge. Still, check this out, print or audio.

The plot was underthought

The story is about a group of corporation soldiers with a priest sent to deal with extranormal events in an actient cemetery but learn there are things that transcend there understanding.

The worldbuilding or chacther development threw tge story where c+ at best has only the enemy queen gave us any real details into that world. The chacthers backstorys weren't given any details yo ground them to the listerner the priest was a little given but not really the church gave him to a corporation.
