Captain Cameron Compton is content with his job as a firefighter and coaching a youth lacrosse team. He doesn’t need or want anything else in his life. Then a tall blonde schoolteacher parks her Jeep illegally in front of a fire hydrant, and one of his crew soaks it with water. Repentant but unintimidated, she fires back at him, and he’s pulled in by her spunk.

Sage Turner has wished her entire life that she could shrink to a normal-sized woman. She hides her insecurities pretty well, but when she falls for a hot firefighter, she’s certain she’ll never be good enough.

Stranded together at her cabin, sparks start to fly, and Sage barely suppresses the urge to kick him out in a snowstorm.

A fire and a moose attack should bring them together, but instead, they might sever any hope of being rescued from the flames or loneliness.

Cute-ish story, but it’s so squeaky clean that the dialogue is incredibly unrealistic for two grown adults. The insecurities of the characters comes across more like pre-teen angst. This should be classified under Christian Romance rather than general Romance, and the blurb should include the fact that there is no heat and only minimal kissing. Granted, I should have read the reviews, which I usually do, but with Teddy Hamilton narrating there’s an assumption of 🔥 level that this book is lacking.
Teddy’s narration is stellar, as always, and is probably the only reason I finished the book once I realized it was going to be G rated.

Funny, heartfelt, romantic, and clean. This book is proof that romance - real romance - isn't getting drunk and jumping in bed with strangers.
I've enjoyed all the Cami Checketts books I've read and plan to read them all.

I liked the book, but he was too bossy and she got on my nerves. Why did she think she could run into a burning building to say her student with no protective gear?

This is well worth your time, I enjoyed the clean story. I will be listening to this author, devouring anything she releases on Audible Plus. Her characters' were fully developed, entirely believable and the story was well laid out and totally believable.

A refreshing breath of Fresh Air

Saige and Cam struggle to communicate but finally get it right. This is a super clean story with no sex or bad language, but has suspense and plenty of romance. The narrator does a fabulous job, as always.

I had trouble getting into this story for some reason, didn’t keep my attention, but I finished it. The narrators were great!

I can really tell I’m in an old generation when I read books that are supposed to be wholesome. There is no sec scenes, which I appreciate, but there is plenty of sexual tension and innuendo.

Cam is a firefighter with a traumatic past who has difficulty having an emotional connection with anyone other than his sister. Sage is a school teacher who struggles with insecurities about her height.

This is a sweet, emotional, clean romance. As a fire wife, anything with a sexy firefighter draws my attention. I enjoyed the humor and playful banter. There was a little bit of heat between the characters, but nothing past first base. If you're looking for a steam, this is not the book for you. This is not my typical style, but it was a quick, enjoyable read with a HEA.

Audio: I came across this book because it was included in my audible membership AND narrated by Teddy Hamilton. My only complaint- he said "O2 stat" rather than "O2 sat" when referring to a character's oxygen saturation. This is one of my nurse pet peeves. I've never read the actual book, so I'm not sure if it was written that way in the book or just misread by Teddy.
