Publisher's summary

A high-speed race to the death. A mission gone horribly wrong.

With a billionaire benefactor backing him, Flint Reed heads off on his first mission to secure rare artifacts spread throughout the quadrant. Aided by a cagey assassin, his snarky AI, and a loving attack dog, Flint is poised for success.

But when a powerful rival organization attempts to kill him, Flint must make split-second decisions to save his team’s lives and protect the public. The pressure mounts as he is confronted with a nefarious syndicate hit man who holds the key to a trove of ancient and powerful artifacts.

The only problem? The treasures are rumored to be guarded by ancient beings of extraordinary power. But they've never met Flint Reed - and he's got a job to do.

Pick up where Resonant Son left off on another white-knuckle adrenaline-fueled adventure. If you're a fan of Renegade Star, Escape from New York, Firefly, or Cowboy Bebop, you'll love this epic sci-fi thriller.

Oh, I see what these guys are doing...

Okay, since the first book was Die Hard in Space, this one is a mix of Dune and the MacGuffin was the five artifacts... Ala The Fifth Element, with possibly a little Total Recall thrown in(?) AND....I swear the kid Monty was a mix of the kid from Raiders of the Lost Ark and Alia from Dune... now I'm wondering what movies are going to be the framework for the next book in the series....Rachel needs to be fleshed out, can't stand a Mary Sue character, she's got to be more than just the unbelievably sexy/ super soldier/ Mother Mary the Madonna trope. She deserves better!

Great

Loved it and the narrator was a very good story teller who made me feel like I was part of the story.

Better than the first!

I really enjoyed this one. Actually, more than the first, which is surprising. Both of these were great stories. I came into Resonant Son after listening to Hopper and Chaney's Ruins of the Galaxy series, which is REALLY good (waiting on book 3 now). If you like scifi and want something different, Resonant Son and Abyss are where it's at. I also recommend Chaney's Renegade Star series, which is in the same universe as this one. So good!

can't get enough of these guys

Chaney and Hopper are two of my favorite authors, along with Jason Anspach. They really deliver the goods!

Too Depressing for me.

Loved the first book in the series and I'm a big fan of Hopper and Chaney but couldn't get through the second book. It feels like the whole plot of the book should have been a couple chapter adventure but it turns into a long drawn out event. The constant talk about torture and rape really dug at me and I found the book to be very depressing. That's why I ultimately returned the book, it's just so freakin depressing.
