About this listen

Three uncommon tales of the common man. Two technicians of an unutterable trade. A home for the elderly whose secrets must remain underground. And a meat factory where homogeneity hides all evils.

Both dark and humorous, Return to the Dirt is no ordinary day's work.

twisted goodness

Here you have three tales of work and death. Each tale is unique in setiing, characters, and plot, but all are full of fun twists, and dark humanity.

These stories reminded me of the earlier Tales from the Crypt TV shows.

My favorite was the first story, but they were all great fun.

Check 'em out.

Excellent Narration

If you could sum up Return to the Dirt: Three Tales of Work and Death in three words, what would they be?

When I was in college earning my journalism degree, I was taught that when on broadcast media, speak in your own voice. Don't embellish things, speak naturally. With a full disclosure: Paul Mcsorley was an in-law, I grew up with him. Listening to his narration brought back memories of the hours of conversations with him.

In all accounts, his voice characterizations were outstanding. He never stumbled or hesitated during his narration, making a seamless visualization of the story he was describing.

What does Paul J McSorley bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Paul brings a compelling narration using a variety of voice characterizations for each character. His overall ability to provide a voice to the author's vision is nicely done.

Never a better title for a book have I seen!

Return to the Dirt - after the first amazing, shocking and twisted tale I knew what I was in for. I loved all 3 tales with 1 being my favorite. Sturtevant has the mind for the disturbing and a smooth pen to make the stories come alive. A tale in this book reminds me of a 1973 Charlton Heston movie. I enjoyed this book very much and I recommend this to anyone and everyone who is not squeamish.

Kudos to

The offbeat and dark humor - just fantastic. They way the characters just continued on in the most unusual circumstances was fascinating to experience.

What did you like best about this story?

It had to be just the oddness of the situations and how comfortable his characters seemed to not be phased by it all.

Which character – as performed by Paul J McSorley – was your favorite?

I liked Kevin the grocery delivery guy. He seemed like the common guy in an odd situation.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

There were so many aspects of the stories that just kept you engaged and wanting to know what happened next that it was hard to pick one.

3 Awesome Tales

Story number 2 was my favorite, but all 3 are good. I had never heard of Geoff before listening to this audio book, but he is on my radar now, in fact I just added Occupational Hazards to my Kindle, I don't know where authors like Geoff come up with this stuff, I wish I could, but I can't, Oh yeah, the narration was spot on also.
